Alfonso Cuaron On That 'Harry Potter' Sequel

Look, we have already expressed our (many) opinions on who should direct upcoming Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Alfonso Cuaron was near the very top of that list. Which is why we were pretty pleased when Vulture took it upon themselves to convince him to direct it. Here's some of what Prisoner of Azkaban director Cuaron had to say about Fantastic Beasts and the Harry Potter experience:

Akzaban was fun to make, and when I did it, I was invited to do the next one, but I didn't want to overstay the welcome, because it was such an experience. But now? Why not? I do have stuff that I want to do [next], but a J.K. thing ...[Laughing] They haven't called me yet! They haven't decided to invite me! Looking forward! At least to see it, because nobody's invited me."

Um, well, get on that, Warner Bros. Get on that.

Seriously, though: Cuaron's Prisoner of Azkaban was the most artistically directed of the Harry Potter film series, and definitely one of the most beloved amongst fans — and trust, Harry Potter fans are not shy when it comes to speaking ill of the movies, so his solid legacy means something. Daniel Radcliffe's sung his praises.

He also told actors Gary Oldman and David Thewlis (Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, respectively) to play their characters as if they were gay junkies, which we are just the most on board with.
