Lacoste Got A Couture Makeover

by Sienna Fantozzi

Sportswear enthusiasts get excited, because Lacoste is going couture, so relaxed and preppy is about to become way more fashion forward. I guess Juicy Couture isn't the only brand getting a high fashion makeover this season.

Lacoste, the French tennis-inspired label famous for its bright colors, polos, and that little crocodile, just unveiled a new collaboration on Monday with couture embroiderer Maison Lesage, because comfort and practicality are great and all, but sometimes you just want to have a little more style and sass.

The collaboration involves a series of eight haute couture designs inspired by brand's archives. Each is embroidered with cartoon crocodiles and tennis balls, but the handwritten scrawl, "Rene Did It First” also pops up on occasion, which is a nod to Jean Rene Lacoste who was nicknamed "the crocodile," and won seven Grand Slam singles at the French, American, and British championships. So the designs definitely have the cred to dominate on the tennis courts, as well as in the fashion world.

But the new designs aren't all, Lacoste also recruited the help of models Laetitia Casta, Constance Jablonski, and Audrey Marnay to help model the collaboration, so it's truly an all around, high fashion makeover.
