Donald Trump Made More Comments About Immigrants

by Jo Yurcaba

Donald Trump isn't so great at learning from his past mistakes. Both Univision and NBCUniversal announced that they would stop airing the Trump-owned Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, and Macy's said it would stop selling Trump's clothing line in its stores after the 2016 presidential candidate made inappropriate remarks about Mexican immigrants, according to the Los Angeles Times. But Trump hasn't let up. During a rally in Phoenix, Trump made more inappropriate comments about Mexican immigrants. Get ready for some serious facepalming.

The trouble first started during Trump's presidential kickoff speech three weeks ago. Trump said Mexican immigrants are "bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” and then admitted “some, I assume, are good people,” according to the Associated Press. He also advocated for building a wall along the southern U.S. border. Trump has refused to apologize and is now causing problems for the Republican party, which he is running under for the 2016 election. On Monday, the Chairman for the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, reportedly called Trump and asked him to "tone it down," according to Politico. But, as Politico put it, Trump only tones himself in one direction — up. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Trump somehow managed to outdo himself during his Phoenix rally, according to Politico:

I love the Mexican people ... I respect Mexico ... but the problem we have is that their leaders are much sharper, smarter and more cunning than our leaders, and they’re killing us at the border. They’re taking our jobs. They’re taking our manufacturing jobs. They’re taking our money. They’re killing us.

Then, Trump reportedly brought a man named Jamiel Shaw up to the podium to talk about how "an illegal immigrant" shot his son violently.

Trump did try to temper himself once. He shared with the crowd how much he loves legal immigrants, according to Politico:

They flow in like water, and I love legal immigration. I love it. We should make it easier, and faster.

To put a rotten cherry on top, Trump mocked the brands that have cut ties with him over his first slew of remarks about immigrants. He reassured the crowd that he's "like, a really smart person," and that his supporters are standing by him because they know that, according to Slate:

Trump was on a roll during the rally. He even called Hillary Clinton "the worst secretary of state in the history of our country," and then said that if he were in the White House, he could solve problems in no time at all, according to Reuters. He said he could get hostages returned "in an hour" and would tax Mexico each time someone crossed the Mexican border illegally. He even said he could convince the head of Ford Motor Company to move a plant back into the U.S. from Mexico with just a couple of phone calls. "It's so simple," he said.

When protesters interrupted him about 20 minutes into his speech, Trump supporters chanted "U-S-A! U-S-A!" and Trump, somehow, dug up one last inappropriate comment about them, according to Slate:

I wonder if the Mexican government sent them over here. I think so. Don't worry, we’ll take our country back.
