Eden xo Mashed Up Two Of Your Favorite Songs

by Alex Kritselis

You've gotta hear this: Up-and-coming pop star Eden xo mashed up Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" with Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," and the result is an astonishingly good synth-pop ballad that will have you feeling seriously nostalgic. Like all great mash-ups, Eden xo's "Torn (Don't Stop Believing)" takes two existing pieces of music and skillfully weaves them together to create something totally new. If you ask me, the decision to combine one of 1998's best pop tunes with everybody's favorite cheesy '80s rock anthem was a true stroke of genius!

Eden even altered a few of "Torn's" original lyrics in order to make the creation a little more personal. On the second verse, the 26-year-old artist sings:

So I guess Kanye and Drake were right

I should've seen just what was there

And not some holy light

But you crawled beneath my veins and now

There's nothing real, labels lie

The conversation has run dry

What the f--k is going on?

Nothing's fine, I'm torn

Wait a minute... "labels lie"? "What the f--k is going on?" Uh-oh... that doesn't sound good! When I spoke to Eden in Dec. 2014 (several months after the debut of her fantastic single, "Too Cool to Dance"), she indicated that she's had her fair share of record label trouble in the past — and I really hope history isn't repeating itself.

Currently signed to Virgin Records, the singer's latest single, "The Weekend," premiered in February — but the track's accompanying music video, which appears to have been shot in May, has yet to surface. I'm crossing my fingers she hasn't run into more issues. Listen to "Torn (Don't Stop Believing)" below.

Hopefully, we'll hear more new music from the extremely talented Eden xo very, very soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out "Too Cool to Dance" and "The Weekend," which are both available on iTunes and Spotify now.
