Not Broke Yet? Amazon's "Prime Day" Can Fix That

by Hope Racine

If you've ever felt like there aren't enough reasons to shop, don't worry — Amazon is offering some insane deals you won't want to miss. Promising more savings than Black Friday, Prime Day is offering Amazon Prime members a multitude of incentives and deals all day. Although our wallets really won't benefit from this new holiday, whoever decided to do a massive Amazon sale in the middle of summer was a genius. Like Christmas in July, really! It's been awhile since there was a compulsory gift-buying holiday, and the best Amazon Prime Day deals will go fast.

If you don't already have Amazon Prime, now might be a good day to get it. Only Prime members are eligible for today's deals, and some of these savings are unheard of. Not only do they offer two-day free shipping (which is a standard Prime feature any day of the year), but lightening deals are being added all day. It's also worth pointing out that you can get a free one-month trial of Prime by signing up, so there's really absolutely no reason not to take advantage of this.

But I understand if you believe capitalism is the downfall of modern society, and that corporate culture is pushing us into a buy-buy-buy mentality that is bad for your soul. I tend to agree, most of the time. But not today. Because today I can finally replace my Chromebook. For only $199.

Curious about what other insane deals you can get on this completely frivolous and made up holiday? Check these out.

iRobot Roomba Pet Vacuum Cleaning Robot

Now you and your cat can finally become internet famous, for under $300.

32-inch Smart HDTV

Selling for under $200, which is honestly the only way I'll ever be able to afford a TV.

Bose Headphones

Listed at the lowest price ever on Amazon, which means sweet, sweet music to my ears.

Two Nikon COOLPIX Cameras

Going for over 50 percent off, and taking half my heart with it.

Kindles

You can trick yourself into thinking you'll actually start reading again because they're $30 off.

The Harry Potter Books

Let's pretend you don't already own all of them already, but your mom doesn't have a full set and these are 50 percent off.

Other deals running throughout the day include up to 30 percent off of selected clothing and jewelry as well as heavily discounted electronics. If you need to do back-to-school shopping or you forgot that your mom's birthday is coming up, Prime Day might just be the best thing to happen to you.
