7 Outdoor Wedding Looks That Can Handle The Heat

by Lindsey Rose Black

Summertime means outdoor weddings and, if you're from the south like me, lots of them. Knowing what to wear to an outdoor wedding can seem tricky since you want to find an outfit that breathes in the heat, but also has a bit of formality to it. Fortunately, there are tons of amazing options out there.

When you're a guest at a wedding, there really are zero rules as to what color, cut, and style you can wear. Once you know the formality level, you're free to play! Sweet floral rompers and wedges? Fair game. Cute summer dresses and boots? Why not. Fancy swimsuits and sarongs? Heck, maybe. (#destinationweddingsFTW)

The main point to keep in mind is, no matter what you choose to wear, make sure you feel good about being outside for hours in it. I chose the pieces below based on their "breathability" in heat, flexibility for dancing, and general awesomeness. Every single look is guaranteed to keep you smiling from a wedding until the very end of the reception.

Time to whip out your shades, put on some sunscreen, and have a ball. But remember, if you choose to wear one of these #Stunner outdoor wedding looks, don't forget to let the couple have some time in the spotlight, too!

1. Denim Racer Front Dress

If the wedding is a casual BBQ-esque affair, this racer front dress is low-key and comfy, but can easily be dressed up with the right jewelry and shoes. The racer front style also adds an eye-catching touch.

2. Chic Jumpsuit

Another look that walks the line between casual and chic is this gorgeous, clean-cut jumpsuit. Again, the level of formality all depends on the type of shoes and jewelry you pair with this one. Also, that whole can't wear black to a wedding rule is so outdated. I say do it!

3. Flowy Frock

This periwinkle gem is more than ready to keep you swaying to the music all night long.

(Cloud Nine Dress, $69.95, Free People)

4. Ray Of Sunshine Maxi

A color like yellow is a great choice for a daytime wedding, and this one is perfect for a more formal affair.

(Varennes Maxi, $298, Anthropologie)

5. Printed Sheer Dress

The floral pattern and lightweight fabric are another great choice for a sweet daytime wedding.

(Long Printed Dress, $29.99 Zara)

6. Skater Dress

This mint green skater dress is the epitome of summertime vibes. It's flowy, short, and 100 percent stylish. Pair with flats for a casual look or add heels for drama.

(Caftan Sleeve Mini Skater Dress, $73, ASOS)

7. Voluminous Jumpsuit

Can't decide between a dress or pants? This luxurious, flowy jumpsuit gives you the best of both worlds (I know, I know, cue Hannah Montana). But for real, talk about making a statement.
