7 Signs Your Partner Might Be Cheating

If I received a dollar every time I heard about a person being cheated on, I’d be richer than Oprah Winfrey. Well, maybe not Oprah, but for sure at least a B-list celebrity. Relationships are all fun and games until someone cheats. And in today’s world, cheating isn’t that rare. It’s a scary thought to think that your partner is cheating on you or could potentially cheat on you. Of course you want to think that you’re that couple that will always stay true to each other, but sadly, not everyone is so fortunate. I’ve known the best of people that have been betrayed. In fact, there have been times I’ve questioned my own partners in the past.

It’s certainly not the most lovely thought. And once you start to wonder if your partner is cheating, it's often hard to get it out of your mind. In some cases, you may be worrying for no reason, but if you constantly have a nagging feeling in the back of your mind that something is off, then it probably is. It's important to be aware of things that are happening in your relationship. They say that “ignorance is bliss.” But, I say that the truth is much more blissful in the long run. You deserve to know what is happening to you, because then you can make the best decision for yourself.

1. They're Extremely Distant

If your partner has become unusually distant with you recently, it might be a red flag. There could be many reasons that your significant other becomes distant — depression, problems at work, issues within your relationship, etc. However, if you can’t pinpoint what this new separateness is coming from, you might want to take a real hard look at what’s going on. Try to talk to your partner to see why this wall has been put up. But, if he or she can’t explain it, something fishy could be going on.

2. You Notice Strange Social Media Activity

Sometimes when you’re feeling left in the dark, Instagram and Facebook can be your best friend. Or at least your best detective friend. You can easily see if your lover has followed an usual amount of new and very attractive people. If your boyfriend has been liking some girl’s IG photos from 84 weeks ago — honey, we’ve got a problem. Or if your girlfriend has been receiving frequent Facebook messages from her best work buddy, you might want to think twice.

3. They're Secretive With Devices

Have you ever seen someone take their phone with them everywhere they go? Never letting it down for one-second? Either he or she is a workaholic or you’ve got a possible cheater on your hands. I mean, I get it, I take my phone with me to the bathroom. But, I don’t need to place my phone down on the table so other people can’t see who text me. If your significant other gets super jumpy when you get close to his or her cell phone or computer, homeboy or homegirl might be creepin'.

4. People Have Told You Your Partner Is Cheating

I know this one seems obvious, but you would be surprised with the amount of people that have been told that his or her partner is cheating and they don’t believe it. Not only do they not believe it, but they can become angry at the messenger. Therefore, don’t be one of those people. It’s far from easy to hear that the person you hold dearest could be betraying you. But, it’s also unusual that someone would be making up this big of a lie. If you’re being told this kind of information, put your Sherlock Holmes hat on and get down to the bottom of it.

5. Accusing You

Similar to farting, he who points the finger probably did it. If your partner is accusing you of cheating, and you’ve clearly given no reason for him or her to suggest this, you might want to point the finger back. Sometimes when we do things that are horrible, we tend to think that others are doing the same thing. So if you’ve been nothing but faithful, and your partner keeps accusing you, maybe start to see if your partner is showing any of these other signs to get to the bottom of it.

6. You Often Don't Know Where He Or She Is

Being with your partner shouldn’t be a game of hide and seek. If you’re constantly questioning where your other half is or why you can’t get a hold of him or her, something isn’t right. You don’t need to know where your significant other is 24/7, but having doubts about his or her location on the daily shouldn’t be happening.

7. They Lie

Where there is one lie, there are many. If you find that your lover is lying about little things, you can never be sure if he or she is lying about bigger things. Being trustworthy and honest is crucial in a partnership. Without it, you’re looking at a whole lot of heartbreak and hurt.
