Wait — Where Are The Emmy Noms For 'Daredevil'?

With the Emmys, there is so much potential content that excitement for your faves and outrage for snubs tends to be an emotional roller coaster. While there's a lot to celebrate, a major omission just sprung to mind — Daredevil was snubbed by the Emmy Awards! Where is Charlie Cox's nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series? Not only is having a visually impaired protagonist great for representation, but the actor gives an incredible performance. Where are Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio's nominations for Best Guest Actress and Actor, respectively? Both Netflix series House of Cards and Orange is the New Black were nominated for Best Drama Series, but was Daredevil not one of the best shows this year? (Answer: It was absolutely one of the best shows this year.)

To be fair, the Marvel and Netflix collaboration did receive three nominations for Creative Arts Emmys, but we all know those awards are for nerds! I'm kidding — trust me, I would happily sit in front of my television for additional hours if it meant getting to see all of these categories represented. The people behind the scenes shouldn't have to stay that way for all of the amazing creative and technical work they put into the shows we love. Daredevil was nominated for Title Design, Visual Effects, and Sound Editing. However, I think it's deserving of nominations in "larger" categories as well.

It baffles me that while Game of Thrones has somehow broke the science fiction/fantasy barrier and found critical success, other shows in similar genres are consistently ignored. Shows like Sleepy Hollow, The Walking Dead, Agent Carter, The Flash, The 100, Outlander, Penny Dreadful, and Once Upon A Time don't seem to be taken seriously. Even Orphan Black's nominations tend to focus on Tatiana Maslany only — and while she's the best it's a good show as well! Plus, it's taken how many years now for Maslany to get that nomination? Jeepers creepers.

Let's be real, we're not going to see any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films get Oscars or Golden Globes any time soon, as happy as that would make me. Television is still streets ahead of film in that regard. However, Daredevil could definitely get a big win for Marvel with an Emmy nomination... or ten.

Maybe, just maybe, now that Mad Men and The Newsroom are over and neither Jon Hamm nor Jeff Daniels will be nominated next year, we'll at least see Charlie Cox get up there for Daredevil Season 2. They got their foot in the door this year, and things can only get better from here.
