Eminem's New "Rap God" Video Is Here

by Alanna Bennett

Eminem may have drawn a little bit of attention for (what he says definitely wasn't) him lip-synching on Saturday Night Live , but this ain't to Ashlee Simpson business, so he's moving on. In other words: Eminem's "Rap God" music video has dropped (released? premiered? been sent out to the ether?) and we have it here for you to watch/listen/critique.

"Rap God" is a very tech-filled music video, but more in that '80s/'90s-infused way — and in fact, the video itself is filled with references to that era in hip hop.

"Rap God" was directed by Rich Lee and comes off of Eminem's new album The Marshall Mathers LP2. Here's what Eminem said re: why he named the album what he did:

While recording the album, people who would hear a song would say it reminded them of the first time they heard me. The more I listened to it, the more it made sense to call it that... We knew that if we called it that, we needed to have the right songs. There needs to be a certain kind of vibe.

Be warned that the video contains much NSFW language, including some homophobic slurs, which according to DirectLyrics Eminem has defended, saying "It was more like calling someone a bitch or a punk or asshole," and that he has "no issue" with gay, straight or transgender people.
