Will Lena Headey Wear Black For The Emmy Awards?

by Julia Guerra

Obviously I don't know Lena Headey in real life. We are not Facebook friends and we do not get together for tea and crumpets on the weekends. But while I may not know her personally, I'm willing to bet she's not as evil or manipulating as her Game of Thrones character Cersei Baratheon, so I find it ironic that the actress wears more black on the Emmy Awards red carpet than I've ever seen on King's Landing's evil queen.

In 2011, Headey made her Emmy red carpet debut in an elegant black taffeta and lace Alessandra Rich gown that pleased even the late Joan Rivers. The legendary host of E! Fashion Police crowned the GoT actress the 2011 Emmy's Best Dressed, comparing her to 1940's British fashion icon Audrey Hepburn. If ever there were an epic compliment received from Joan Rivers, that was it.

Moving on to 2012, Headey's Giorgio Armani gown somewhat resembled her television persona's style, very drape-y with a sheer bodice and sleeves that fell down her skirt. Her Alessandra Rich number in 2013 was definitely a show stopper — a black sheer gown that, apparently, Headey felt was supportive enough to go bra less. Last year the actress played it safe, posing for the paparazzi in a black, one shoulder Rubin Singer asymmetrical hemline gown, pictured below.

Headey recently gave birth to her second child, so while I was crossing my fingers to see some color on the actress, I'm thinking she will most likely cling to the familiar. Honestly, the whole goth thing works for her. We wouldn't be talking about it otherwise, and I for one have never turned my head from the all black everything look.

That being said, below are a few of my predictions regarding what Lena Headey will wear to this year's Emmy Awards.

Alessandra Rich

Here's hoping Headey has seen the light and will at least consider a pop of color this year. This particular gown by Alessandra Rich comes equipped with gold chain color and belt. It's edgy, like Heady, though I'm not sure how she'll feel about covering up her back ink. She likes to show that off.

Rubin Singer

Does this dress not define gothic goddess? It's unique and fierce. Everything the queen of King's Landing should be.

Chanel

Some women are a little self conscious post labor, so I'm thinking this Chanel gown is flowing enough to feel comfortable without sacrificing chicness.
