Will Taylor Win Best Female Video?

It is one of the biggest nights on MTV and with Miley Cyrus hosting you know things are going to get crazy. On Monday, Cyrus announced on Twitter that she would be hosting the 2015 VMAs and now just a day later we already have the official list of 2015 VMA nominees. With so many great music videos out this year, the competition is pretty tight, but one of the most nail biting categories definitely has to be the nominees for Best Female Video.

As arguably one of the biggest awards of the night, it makes sense that every woman in this category is a total power house. Each video has done tremendously well on YouTube and Vevo, but with so many talented musicians in just one category alone, it is hard to make a guess on who will win simply based on popularity. So we are breaking down, so you do not have to. Let's take a look at past winners to help us determine who will get the title in 2015.

2011: Lady Gaga — "Born This Way"

In 2011, Gaga was at the top of her game. She had just released her second studio album, Born This Way and was receiving award nominations left and right, including three Grammy Award nominations. She was changing up her style again making her music the "wow factor" as opposed to her clothes. Not to mention, she also met her now-fiancé, Taylor Kinney, on the set of her music video for "You and I." So yeah, you could say she was "fully living" during the time of her win.

2012: Nicki Minaj — "Starships"

After appearing on the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show alongside M.I.A. and Madonna, in February 2012, Minaj released "Starships" as her lead single from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and from there her career only skyrocketed. Although her performance of "Roman Holiday" during the Grammy Awards gained a lot of criticism for its Catholic-themed controversy, it also made her the first solo female rapper to perform at the ceremony.

2013: Taylor Swift — "I Knew You Were Trouble"

After a two year hiatus, Swift released her highly anticipated album, RED. At the time Swift was starting to reinvent herself into the pop artist we know and love today. With masterful lyrics on love and heartbreak, the singer took from her own experiences from some pretty publicized relationships including Jake Gyllenhaal and Harry Styles. Not only did her album do extremely well on the charts, but her concert alongside Ed Sheeran established the epic best friend duo we never knew we needed and essentially the beginning of Taylor's Squad.

2014: Katy Perry (featuring Juicy J) — "Dark Horse"

During the time, Perry was definitely on her A-game. Not only had she found a huge amount of success with her album, Prism, but she had also found love again with singer, John Mayer. Her music was changing form from her past relationship experiences, but it still maintained that fun Katy Perry sound we all know and love. With her colorful costumes and out of this world sets, her world tour quickly became one of the must-see shows of the year.

Beyonce, I'mma let you finish but... I honestly would be very surprised if Swift didn't snag this award. Not only has she won the category twice already, but 2015 has literally been T-Swift central. Aside from the fact that her 1989 album has been killing every record out there, her personal life (I'm looking at you, Calvin Harris) has also made some serious headlines. From squad goals to relationships goals, it is certainly a great year to be Miss Taylor Swift.
