'Paper Towns' Lacey Is Already A Comedy Pro

Although the new film Paper Towns isn't a straight up comedy, the coming-of-age tale is still pretty light and funny, something that is very apparent to anyone who has seen the minivan and band geek jokes in the film's trailer. Nat Wolff plays Q, an average high school kid with a crush on Margo (Cara Delevingne), the hot girl next door. But then the movie takes a strange turn when Margo disappears one night and leaves Q some clues as to her whereabouts, causing him to embark on a cross-country road trip (in the aforementioned minivan) with his friends Ben (Austin Abrams) and Radar (Justice Smith), Radar's girlfriend, Angela (Jaz Sinclair), and Margo's friend/Ben's crush, Lacey. Some of these faces may be familiar to viewers, but who plays Lacey in Paper Towns ?

Lacey is portrayed by 22-year-old Halston Sage, who frankly has been on a tear through some of Hollywood's funniest avenues lately. Although she started her career as a Nickelodeon child actor, popping up on shows like Justice and Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures and appearing as a regular cast member on How to Rock, Sage has gone on to a film career that has seen her work with some of the biggest comedians around, all the while honing her own comedy chops. Here are some places where you can check out Sage's skills, so when she becomes Hollywood's next big comedy star you can claim you knew she was funny before it was cool.

1. Grown Ups 2

OK, Grown Ups 2 didn't exactly leave its mark as a modern comedy classic (unless you count a deer peeing in Adam Sandler's face), but just look at this cast: Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, Jon Lovitz, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows, Cheri Oteri, Bobby Moynihan, Taran Killam, and all of the Lonely Island... Sage must've picked up a thing or two from this comedic smorgasbord while playing the love interest of Sandler's character's son.

2. Neighbors

While Neighbors doesn't boast as many comedy all-stars as Grown Ups 2,the movie features Seth Rogen, who's one of the best in the biz when it comes to tickling funny bones. Sage co-stars as the girlfriend of Zac Efron's character in the film (a role she's rumored to have played IRL), and she gets into hot water when she cheats on him with his frat brother, played by Dave Franco. But as you can see below, this act was orchestrated by Rose Byrne's character as part of her and husband Seth Rogen's war against their noisy frat house neighbors. Not very neighborly if you ask me.

3. Goosebumps

Sage already has some post-Paper Towns comedy work in the pipeline, having scored a role in the highly-anticipated Goosebumps movie. If you were alive at any point in the '90s, you're familiar with Goosebumps and R.L. Stine, and the movie version features comedy god Jack Black as the famous children's author. The trailer looks amazing, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Sage's contribution.

4. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Who needs comedy idols leading the way? Sage takes over a lead role in this comedy horror, due out in time for Halloween, showing off her skills in the art of comedia by utilizing some cookware to defend the world against the scourge of zombie... house cats. Halston Sage, your comedy training is complete.

The star's role in Paper Towns may be a mix of comedy and drama, but it's clear that when it comes to solely showing off her sense of humor, Sage has the skill down pat.
