Anne Hathaway Loved 'Trainwreck's Joke About Her

by Rachel Semigran

Anne Hathaway can sometimes get a lot of hate for no good reason, so it's good to know she's got a great sense of humor about everything. Case-in-point: In Amy Schumer's smash hit comedy Trainwreck, Anne Hathaway is the butt of a very funny joke. After Bill Hader's character wins an awards and gleams about it, Schumer tells him he's acting like Anne Hathaway on Oscar night. Ouch!

... Except, not quite? Not only did the Oscar-winning actress enjoy the joke, she paid Schumer some extra sweet compliments for the film on her Instagram: "Dear @AmySchumer, Don't pretend like when you win your Oscar- which you could for your brilliant and refreshing writing and/or acting in @TrainwreckMovie- you won't tote it around to every Oscar party you go to. Way to slay, Annie."

Hathaway's response is awesome on many, many levels, but it is a big step in showing the industry that yes, women are funny, yes, we can make fun of each other, and YES, we can make fun of ourselves ... and it's OK. No really, I swear ... when women make jokes about each other, it's not a "catfight" — it's just joking. And let's be real: If Schumer made a joke about me in a movie, I'd be on Cloud Nine, because who wouldn't? Who needs an Oscar when you can be on the brain of one of comedy's most influential women?

Hathaway's take on her Trainwreck moment is just the kind of thing we need to see more of — women making fun of each other and supporting each other all at the same time. Humor is a powerful tool, and it's wonderful to see it being used so wisely by these industry-changing celebrities. Though Hathaway is a "serious actor," she's not so serious all of the time. Take a look at just how often Hathaway is totally fine with being the butt of jokes ... which are often her own:

When She Laughed Off Relationship Drama

"As far as relationships crashing and burning goes, c'mon, I did pretty great. I mean, scorched that earth!" Oh, Anne, we've all been there.

When She Totally Went Along With Amy Poehler And Tina Fey On This

Had to be said.

And Then She Gave Tina Fey Extra Props In Her 2013 Golden Globe Acceptance Speech

That's how you roll with the punches.

When She Left Dog Poop On A Photographer's Car

Who knew she was the queen of comebacks?

... And Her Paparazzi Slams Don't Stop There!

She's nothing if not consistent.

When She Performed "Wrecking Ball"

Now that's how you commit to a bit.

When She Got Real About Being Vegan

You made yourself cry, Hathaway!

Whether it's making fun of her past dating disasters or having a good sense of humor about her Oscar moment, Hathaway can laugh it off with the best of 'em.
