Taylor Swift Responded To Nicki Minaj's Rant

by Maggie Malach

No bad blood here! Following the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards nominations announcement, Nicki Minaj called out MTV for snubbing "Anaconda." In her Twitter rant, she also claimed "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year." Taylor Swift, who scored nine nominations collectively for "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood," responded to what some call a "diss" from Minaj. However, Minaj made it very clear that her comments were not about Swift, but about the racism Minaj sees in the music industry, tweeting "Nothing I said had to do with Taylor. So what jabs? White media and their tactics. So sad. That's what they want."

"I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.." Swift tweeted to the "Anaconda" singer, to which Minaj replied, "Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn't say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this."

Swift spoke her final piece by tweeting, "If I win, please come up with me!! You're invited to any stage I'm ever on."

Minaj stopped responding directly to Swift, but continued to tweet and retweet responses to the supposed "Twitter fight."

While it remains to be seen if Minaj will take the "Bad Blood" singer up on her offer, I, for one, am totally hoping to see the two onstage together and put aside any tension. Swift is not without her history of rumored feuds (remember when Lorde kinda dissed her or when Kanye West famously stage-crashed her?), but the best way to put any rumors to bed is by showing that there's no bad blood. (No pun intended this time.) Swift shut down any hearsay by BFFing with Lorde at Shake Shack and writing a song as a means of forgiving West.

History shows that Swift is a big supporter of women, a point reiterated in her tweet to Minaj, so let's hope we can see the two of them onstage, making the message loud and clear. Maybe 2015 MTV VMAs host Miley Cyrus can make it happen.
