3 Steps To Remove Long-Lasting Lipstick

by Emily McClure

One of the hardest part of being a lipstick addict is actually removing the lipstick at the end of the day. It can be such a challenge to get everything off. Not to mention that you might ruin one of your favorite towels in the process. Before you know it, you've made a mess everywhere, and you still have lipstick clinging to your lips. It's so frustrating. I absolutely love wearing lipstick, however, I hate dealing with the removal process. It can feel like no matter how long you scrub, you're still going to have stained lips. However, there's good news! After many trials and errors, I've learned a super simple process for removing stubborn lipstick.

Lipstick no longer has to be a burden. No more scrubbing at your mouth for days (figuratively speaking) to remove lingering lipstick. You just need the right tools to get the job done. Doesn't that sound simple enough? It's awesome. Keep reading for a few simple steps on how to remove stubborn lipstick.

First off, here's the lipstick look that I was wanting to remove. You'll need: petroleum jelly, a cotton pad, a toothbrush, and lip balm. And I'm wearing Covergirl's Lipstick in 405 Fairytale, in case you're interested.

Before:

Step 1: Vaseline

Load your lips up with a thick amount of petroleum jelly. This will soften your lips, and allow the lipstick itself to be lifted from your lips. Wait a few minutes to let the jelly do its magic. When you feel like things are starting to feel sticky, remove the petroleum jelly with a cotton pad.

Step 2: Exfoliate

If your lipstick did it's job correctly, then undoubtedly your lips will be stained from the color. To help lift the color from your lips, exfoliate the outer surface of your lips with a toothbrush. Go in small, circular movements across your lips to remove the lipstick.

Step 3: Apply Lip Balm

Just apply lip balm to rehydrate the skin, and reveal in your naked, beautiful lips!
