LA Gets Amazing New Transgender Modeling Agency

The trans community has been in the news quite a bit lately as a result of Caitlyn Jenner's coming out and her honor of receiving the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Now, the community is making headlines again as Los Angeles welcomes Apple Model Management, a transgender modeling agency. The agency is a branch of Thai-based Apple Models Management which has already formed a trans division in their home country, but now they've expanded, and we couldn't be happier about the movement toward more diverse representation in the fashion industry. Here's to more trans models on the catwalk!

Trans models are actually blowing up on the catwalk right now. Notable names like Andreja Pejic are making serious waves in both the fashion and entertainment industries. Pejic just recently appeared on stage with Taylor Swift, giving her oodles of exposure to people who may not be caught up on who's currently walking the most popular runway shows. Plus, her latest campaign with Make Up For Ever is absolutely perfect. "Be Bold. Be Unexpected. Be You," is the campaign's slogan, and it's the perfect way to describe Pejic who made a triumphant return to the catwalk as a transwoman. Seeing someone like Pejic land Vogue editorials and front campaigns is refusing, and we're hopefully about to see more of it.

The Los Angeles transgender branch of Apple Models Management will be fronted by talented director Cecilio Asuncion who just released the document "What's the T?" about the struggles and triumphs of five transgender women. Of the opening and the branch's models, Asuncion told The Advocate, "Our strong commitment to developing them as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender...It's never a question of if they are women or men, it's about their passion and commitment to being the best possible models they can be."

We absolutely cannot wait to see the gorgeous trans men and women who sign with Apple Model Management. They agency already has a long list of gorgeous, talented models, and with a trans activist like Asuncion at the helm, the endeavor is sure to be a way to make the fashion industry see that inclusion is beautiful and so is trans.
