You know what's pretty crazy to think about? If you're reading this right now, you'll be able to tell some young whippersnapper who hasn't even been born yet that you remembered exactly where you were when SCOTUS legalized same-sex marriage. It's been a few weeks since the historic ruling, and although most of the ~mad partying~ has come to halt, the joy and relief we all feel is just getting started. In the spirit of marking this huge step toward equality, Cut Video asked gay men to describe marriage in one word, and their answers are both a testament to attitudes toward marriage equality and the general shift of modern marriage as a whole.
Cut Video interviewed men in all stages of their lives, from younger men who were only thinking of marriage in the future, to men who were already happily married, to men who weren't interested in getting married at all. Although everyone's individual ideas about marriage shifted widely across the board, there was one thing everyone could agree on: the enormous progress the country made in the last few weeks, and just how much ground we have left to cover.
Here are just a few of the reactions the men offered when prompted with the word "marriage":
The romantic
Some of them wanted every cheesy, awesome, cliché moment of it, even if it wasn't right now.
The realist
He goes on to explain, "I feel like marriage is something people don't necessarily think about anymore when they're in a relationship, you know? It's just a title."
