Need any more proof that life really, really isn't fair? Take a look at this anecdote from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, courtesy of the queen of pop herself: Apparently, during their days on the Mickey Mouse Club, Britney Spears used to play spin the bottle with Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake — one of whom she went on to show her appreciation for denim with (a.k.a., date in the late '90s), and both of whom went on to become total adult hotties in their own ways.
According to Spears, the group of kids in the Mickey Mouse Club — including herself, Timberlake, Gosling, Christina Aguilera, J.C. Chasez, The Voice runner-up Tony Lucca, and Keri Russell — all used to pass the time on set by playing 'Spin the Bottle,' but, as Spears is quick to clarify, she never kissed Gosling: "I did that, but I didn't kiss him though," she said.
"Well, what happens when it lands on you?" DeGeneres asked.
"The only person I kissed was Justin," Spears clarified. I won't give the rest of the interview away — it's actually a pretty adorable clip that's worth a watch — but I will say that a cute jab at Gosling follows.
For the record, the comments from Gosling about playing 'Spin the Bottle' with Spears that DeGeneres refers to are these from an interview with the Sunday Times Style Magazine back in April of this year: "Britney was a sweetheart. She lived right above me, the girl next door. The little girl I used to play basketball and spin the bottle with."
