Easter is all about springtime, rebirths, and catching up with loved ones, friends and family (whether at an outdoor picnic or over Zoom), and it's also a great opportunity to catch up on all the films you’ve been meaning to get around to. Once the chocolate eggs have been devoured and all the arguments about Sunday roast have cooled down, there's nothing better to do than plonk yourself in front of the television (or laptop) and having a movie marathon. So here are the films and TV shows to watch over the Easter weekend.

With the gargantuan amount of choice that streaming services now offer, it can actually be a little overwhelming to decide on a film. You can end up spending half your time sifting through pages of options before giving up and rewatching the same film for the hundredth time. To save yourself from scrolling, watching hundreds of trailers and, of course, the family squabbles, here's a list of some great movies to get stuck into over the Easter weekend.

From thrillers that will have you hiding behind a pillow to romantic comedies that will make your heart swell, plus a couple of family favourites, there's a little bit of everything to keep the boredom at bay over the Easter weekend — and they're all available to stream on Netflix.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before: Always & Forever

It's scientifically proven that you can't watch To All The Boys films too many times — I don't make the rules. Now finally, the third instalment has hit Netflix, we’ve all been gagging to see how Lara Jean and Peter are getting on, but it looks like college plans is about to throw their love story off course.

Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle

Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle is a great one for the whole family. But don't expect any cute sing-alongs to The Bare Necessities — this version ofThe Jungle Book is lowkey scary. With a star-studded cast including Christian Bale, Naomie Harris, and Andy Serkis, Mowgli is an action-packed reimagining of a beloved favourite.

Joy

This 2015 biographical drama tells the story of a family across four generations and stars the likes of Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence — the latter of whom portrays Joy Mangano, a self-made millionaire who rose to become the matriarch of a powerful family dynasty.

Collateral

This 2004 action-thriller stars Jamie Foxx as LA taxi driver Max, who becomes wrapped up in the crimes of a hitman named Vincent (Tom Cruise) after picking him up for an expensive and deadly ride. As the night progresses, Vincent’s kill list expands further and the pair begin to be hunted down by the police and FBI.

Easy A

Inspired by Nathaniel Hawthrone’s 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter, this 2010 comedy centres on the under-the-radar high school student Olive Penderghast (Emma Stone), who begins using a wave of gossip and rumours about her personal life to her advantage.

La La Land

If a sing-a-long is what you crave this Easter, La La Land is the flick for you. Starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the 2016 musical drama follows the story of an aspiring jazz pianist and actress who fall in love whilst trying to navigate careers in the unforgiving world of Hollywood.

Coffee & Kareem

In this new comedy, starring Teraji P. Henson and Ed Helms, 12-year-old Kareem (Terrence Little Gardenhigh) does his very best to scare off his mum's new police officer boyfriend. Funny doesn't even begin to cover it.

Beyond The Curve

Who doesn't love a conspiracy theory documentary over the Easter hols? Beyond The Curve tells the story of "flat-earthers", they are people who believe that the earth is actually flat and we've been lies to all these years. Although its very out there, Beyond the Curve is actually an interesting watch.
