The dust has now settled on Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee - and what a celebration it was. The long weekend kicked off on June 2 with a traditional Trooping the Colour parade and Buckingham Palace flypast, during which Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George very much stole the show. On Saturday, June 4, the likes of Rod Stewart, Mabel, and Diana Ross performed at the spectacular Platinum Party at the Palace concert in front of the royal family and a 10,000-strong crowd. On Sunday, June 5, the weekend celebrations drew to a glorious close with a special Jubilee Pageant and a surprise appearance by the Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

“I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee,” her majesty wrote in a statement, thanking the British people for marking her 70 years on the throne. Although the pageantry of the Platinum Jubilee was a highlight for royal spectators around the world, the celebrations also provided some extremely meme-worthy moments.

“The Queen and Paddington Bear playing We Will Rock You by Queen with spoons is all you need to know about what it means to be British,” one Twitter said of her majesty’s surprise Paddington Bear cameo. “How does Prince Louis manage to express every expression on the emoji keyboard in one sitting?” another user wrote.
