I'm a big believer in the power of a good hair mask, and often use them in lieu of a traditional conditioner. But as amazing as a deep conditioner can be for your locks, there are plenty of other hair masks that do more than simply moisturize, and they don't get enough credit. Just like there are facial masks that help exfoliate, detoxify, and soothe your skin, so too are there hair masks that will help balance your scalp and strands.

That's why if you feel like you constantly have product buildup, oily roots, or a flaky scalp, adding a new hair mask to the mix could help. Not that you have to trade out your moisturizing masks or anything though— multi-masking your hair is totally a thing and works amazingly to keep your strands satisfied from root to tip. And hey, it's only fair to treat your hair how you treat your skin, right? So whether your tresses need more shine, strength, volume, or all of the above, introduce one or more of these 10 masks into your hair routine to help. You may be surprised just how much healthier and more manageable your locks become.
