Where To Get Free & Cheap Stuff On Tax Day

Dun, dun, duun. What's that scary noise, you ask? Why, it's the sound of the rapidly approaching April 18 Tax Day deadline. If you're poised to meet the deadline, here are 10 Tax Day deals for 2017 so you can reward yourself for filing on time. And, in case you didn't get the memo, I've got good news. You get a few extra days this year to file your taxes due to the 15th being Saturday, and Monday the 17th being Emancipation Day, which marks the 1862 anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln freeing 3,000 slaves in the District of Columbia nine months before the Emancipation Proclamation.

If you hustled and are ready to file your taxes on time (confession, I have not yet filed mine — but I get three more days!), there are deals to be had to celebrate this day that no one likes (except maybe accountants). And, even if you don't meet the deadline (you can file a six-month extension; I have done this a few times) you can still take advantage of the deals. It will be our little secret.

Ranging from food to frolicking to beer to office supplies, take advantage of these 10 Tax Day deals, because taxes kind of suck, unless you're a CPA (or President Trump who allegedly doesn't pay taxes).

1

Feed Yourself

Tax Day 2017 is a perfect day to go on a Rory and Lorelai Gilmore style eating tour with all of the food deals being offered. A host of eateries are celebrating the end of tax season, including Bruegger's Bagels, Bertucci's, Hungry Howie's, Hot Dog on a Stick, McDonald's, and more. Celebrate filing your taxes, or filing for an extension, by indulging in some tasty treats. You deserve it.

2

Get A Massage

If you've been hunched over your desk crunching numbers for the past few weeks, chances are your shoulders are pretty tense. Planet Fitness and HydroMassage are partnering for Tax Day to offer you a free hydromassage through April 22. Print this coupon and you'll be on your way to feeling more relaxed in no time.

3

Shred Your Old Stuff

The IRS says you're supposed to hold onto your tax documents for seven years. These days you likely have digital files, but if you're holding onto old paper copies, and want to get rid them, you're in luck. Both Staples and Office Depot are both offering deals on document shredding. Personally, I hate paper clutter more than almost anything so this deal sounds pretty awesome.

4

Win A Trip

Unfortunately, you might be one of the people who owe taxes this year. It hardly seems fair when even the president allegedly doesn't have to pay. But, don't fret, here is a special Tax Day 2017 deal just for you! JetBlue is giving away a free one-way flight to one of the (un)lucky people who got stuck with a tax bill this year. Just fill out this form to put yourself in the running to win a free trip.

5

Toast The End Of Tax Season

I know some of you would like to give Tax Day 2017 a proper send off with a frosty beverage, and World of Beer agrees. Head to one of their dozens of locations around the country this Tax Day, and World of Beer will give you a free draught beer on the house.

6

Head To The Park

Tax Day 2017 overlaps with National Park Week. This means you can get into any of the U.S. National Parks for free the weekends of April 15–16 and April 22–23. If being in nature helps you forget your troubles, take advantage of the great outdoors, and celebrate the end of tax season by hitting the hiking trail.

7

Smash Some Sweets

If you have a sweet tooth, these places have got you covered. This Tax Day, Tony Roma's email club members will receive a coupon for a free dessert. Great American Cookies is also giving away a free Tax Day cookie to each customer who wants one on April 18; Kona Ice is giving away free shaved ice for its National Chill Out Day; and Cinnabon is offering its eClub members two free Tax Day Cinnabon Bites. Hey, even if Tax Day makes you feel sour, it can still be pretty sweet.

8

Plan A Getaway

If you're expecting a refund use Tax Day to book a new adventure. CNBC reports that Select Wyndham and Wyndham Grand hotel properties in Florida, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, and other vacation destinations are offering rates up to 35 percent off for travelers who book online by April 17 and use the code HTAX00 for travel between May 1 and Sept. 30, 2017.

Additionally, a number of of Kimpton Hotels across the country have prepared Tax Day offers as well, and the New York Times published a story about how to take a take-refund vacation. If you need to get out of dodge, now is the time to take advantage of great deals.

9

Grab A One-Cent Big Mac

Let's face it, sometimes you just need a Big Mac. On Tax Day 2017 you can get a Big Mac or a Quarter-Pounder for just a cent when you buy one at regular price. If tax season has left you short of cash, take a friend out to lunch for just a penny, or just get two for yourself. Because, yum!

10

Enjoy A Free Turkey Dog On A Stick

If grab and go is your jam, Hot Dog on a Stick is giving everyone a free turkey dog on a stick this Tax Day 2017. "Tax Day can be a little hard to stomach, but not at Hot Dog on a Stick," Hot Dog on a Stick Vice President Lisa Merrell said in a press release. "Visit us on April 18 and stomp your Tax Day blues away with one very tasty deal."

If you need to file a tax extension you can easily do it online, but don't worry — you can still take advantage of all of the Tax Day 2017 deals.
