With the East Coast feeling the after-effects of the bomb cyclone (and, you know, winter generally), you're likely taking to social media to express your cabin-fever frustrations. If you're already tired of the snow, these winter Instagram caption ideas can help you let your friends know that the struggle is real, especially if they live in a warm climate. After nine years of living in Maine — where the snow drifts were often taller than my car — I'm glad to be safe and warm in L.A.

However, I can totally relate to the hairs inside of your nose freezing after just a few seconds outside, the whipping wind that makes you look like you've been hit by a bus by the time you've made it to work, and the general disdain for the merciless barrage of snow that stopped being pretty a few days ago.

While some people, like a good friend of mine who was born in Maine but now lives in L.A., see the snow and ice as a magical winter wonderland, others are so over it already. Things like the bomb cyclone can really make you yearn for those hot summer days you bemoaned just a few months ago. And, for winter hater, posting about the cold and snow on social media is almost a compulsion. At least it was for me when I lived in Maine where I wore two coats to go outside on the regular.

When my Facebook memories pop up from my time in Maine, most of them this time of year are about me complaining non stop about the horrors of winter weather. Not that I didn't have good cause — the above picture of my animals clamoring for a spot around the space heater is from a particularly cold winter that lasted until May. Yes, this picture is from May, and yes, I cried. If you're close to tears, these winter-hating captions to post to Instagram will help you feel a little better.

It's Lenny-Kravitz-scarf cold.
