The best thing that could happen in the new Beauty and the Beast movie is if it's a majestic visual feast that takes advantage of modern technology while still remaining true to the spirit and the tone of the original. We all know and love the plot of that movie so well by this point that it's unlikely this remake will stray too far from the expected story beats. What's more important is keeping the right tone to film. You might think the most critical element to remain loyal to is the music, which is, of course, totally classic. But there are also a lot of quotes from the original Beauty and the Beast that better be in the new movie, if the filmmakers are hoping to give the proper attention to the quirks that made the first film so special.
The 1991 movie, some might not remember, is a surprisingly sweet and goofy film, full of some pretty great one-liners. There are tons of unique characters, from the townspeople to the beloved anthropomorphic household items to a loathsome but hilarious evil villain suitor. And of course, there is Belle and the Beast's special type of antagonistic romance. In order for the remake to stay true to the original, I'm hoping it includes quotes from all of these great characters.

"Once upon a time..." — Narrator
I know a lot has changed, but this is a Disney princess fairy tale and it just won't feel right if it doesn't start with "Once upon a time..."

"2. It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas and thinking." — Gaston
Oh, Gaston, you bloviated misogynist buffoon. Never change (because it's so satisfying to see you ultimately fail).

"I'm very sorry Gaston, but I just don't deserve you." — Belle
One of the best things about Belle is how smart and sassy she is to Gaston, like this clever jab that totally goes over his head.

"As I always say, 'If it's not Baroque, don't fix it!'" — Cogsworth
I'm dying to hear Sir Ian McKellan, the new Cogsworth, make this cheesy joke.

"How can you read this? There's no pictures!" — Gaston
Gaston, at it again with the complete absence of intellect.

"Don't you see? She's the one. The girl we have been waiting for. She has come to break the spell." — Lumiere
Swoon. The frisson of excitement really kicks in at this point in the movie. (Also, points to Lumiere, he did call it, regardless of what Cogsworth claimed.)

"Don't frighten the poor girl!" — Mrs. Potts
Mrs. Potts is everyone's sweet aunt as she tries to teach the Beast not to be such a jerk, and she's going to be voiced by the delightful Emma Thompson.

"T-wooooo?" — The Beast
How sweet is it when Belle teaches the Beast to read and also be a generally nice person?

"En garde, you you overgrown pocket watch!" — Lumiere
The goofy, ego-driven battle between Lumiere and Cogsworth is a requirement for the new movie.

"I've been burnt by you before!" — Plumette
So Plumette will be voiced by the amazing Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Lumiere, her lover, is voiced by the equally amazing Ewan McGregor, and I cannot wait for their punny, flirtatious exchanges.

"I love you!" — Belle
I mean, you can't have Beauty and the Beast without the most important declaration of love of all time.
I trust that Disney won't less us down.
