The Best 'GoT' Episodes For Jon Snow Fans

by Jordana Lipsitz

I'm not saying I watch the popular HBO series Game of Thrones solely to view the glorious and well-coiffed escapades of one Jon Snow, but I am certainly not not saying it. Snow, with his brooding eyes and the chip on his shoulder, is the dreamiest part of the series if not the most interesting. Since Season 7 is slowly (oh so slowly) approaching, it would seem the best way to prepare for the impending doom and gloom of the next season is to hang out with the series most consistently gloomy character, Jon Snow. There are a few Game of Thrones episodes that are essential for Jon Snow fans.

Whether he's fighting White Walkers or falling in love or even being betrayed and then murdered by his own men, Jon's always got his sadface on, and it's truly a handsome delight — though a little tough to see sometimes. Regardless, his face (and the rest of him) will definitely help fans to wile away the hours until we finally get some more Westeros in our systems. Heck, I'd even take a thirty second promo right now, but rewatching some of the best Jon Snow episodes will have to be the next best thing.

1

"Home" — Season 6, Episode 2

The suspense, the tension, the large amount of time Melisandre spent touching Jon Snow's hair — this episode is the perfect reminder of how much we love Jon Snow. The world would be such a dark and terrible place without him.

2

"Cripples, Bastards, And Broken Things" — Season 1, Episode 4

HBO

Since Season 1, Jon's relationship with his bestie in black, Samwell Tarly, has been a beautiful thing to see develop. They're both so scrappy in their own ways and well-suited for each other. But the beginning of their friendship is the sweetest to watch as Snow defends the new recruit from the bullies of the Night's Watch.

3

"Kissed By Fire" — Season 3, Episode 5

Saying that there's a lot of sex in Game of Thrones is an understatement, but hands down the best romantic scene takes place in a cave between enemies/lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte. It looks like Jon Snow knows at least one thing...

4

"Winter Is Coming" — Season 1, Episode 1

If you're taking a stroll down memory lane, might as well stroll on down to the very beginning. It's so amusing to see a young Jon Snow before his entire existence went to hell, hanging out with puppies and sparring with his brothers, not a care in the world.

5

"The Watchers On The Wall" — Season 4, Episode 9

While this isn't the happiest episode for Jon Snow (way to go, Olly), he also truly proves his worth to the rest of the men at the Wall. When Janos Slynt turns out to be a garbage leader, Snow takes control and wins the day. It's nice to see him doing well.

6

"Book Of The Stranger" — Season 6, Episode 4

Finally, something good happened to Jon Snow and Sansa. Surprising, but so exciting. I could watch their reunion on loop, it's that nice to see.

7

"Hardhome" — Season 5, Episode 8

There's so much good in this episode. Jon Snow is all brave and ready to fight for what he believes in (saving Wildings), he figures out Valyrian steel can kill White Walkers, and, as in any battle scene, he looks fine. It's almost too good.

8

"Lord Snow" — Season 1, Episode 3

Tyrion is the best and Jon Snow is also the best, so a dialogue between Tyrion and Jon Snow is bound to make for a great episode.

9

"Battle Of The Bastards" — Season 6, Episode 9

I still have a hard time breathing when I think about Jon Snow almost getting crushed to death. And though there are some losses (RIP Rickon), Snow still gets to beat the stuffing out of Ramsay, and that's all any of us should need.

10

"The House of Black And White" — Season 5, Episode 2

This episode is chock full of pride towards our favorite bastard. First, Stannis offers Jon the keys to a shiny new Winterfell, which he declines because that boy made a vow. Then, when we're still reeling from his mature decision, he gets voted in as Lord Commander. Way to go, Jon Snow — though more terrors await you.

11

"The Climb" — Season 3, Episode 6

Sure, we know Jon is about to betray the love of his life. But it's adorable to see them having a good time sharing experiences that they both enjoy, like scaling giant ice walls and making out in front of a beautiful sunset. Sigh.

12

"Kill The Boy" — Season 5, Episode 5

The Maester Aemon pep talk suggesting that Jon "kill the boy and let the man be born" is reason enough to enjoy this episode. Thanks for the great advice for us all, Maester Aemon.

13

"The Old Gods And The New" — Season 2, Episode 6

When Jon Snow Met Ygritte is the sort of romantic comedy I can get behind. In this episode, Jon Snow fails to kill Ygritte because he's a soppy mess of a man with an active conscience. He then chases her around for a really long time, and it becomes clear they are soulmates.

14

"The Pointy End" — Season 1, Episode 8

Jon Snow saves the Lord Commander's life by setting fire to a wight. It's really badass. If you need to feel some Jon Snow pride, here's your episode.

15

"Oathbreaker" — Season 6, Episode 3

"My watch has ended." Drops mic. Walks away. Boom. Watching Jon Snow come to terms with his betrayal, death, and resurrection makes for riveting television.

16

"Mhysa" — Season 3, Episode 10

Oh, Jon Snow, we hate to see you leave, but we love to watch you go. When Jon Snow goes rogue from his adventure as a Wilding, Ygritte is determined to take him out. But then she can't because she loves him too much. Prepare to cry.

17

"High Sparrow" — Season 5, Episode 3

After the weasel Janos Slynt refuses the newly appointed Lord Commander's orders not once but thrice, he is sentenced to die. Sure, it's hard to see Jon take a life in this way, but it's also cathartic.

You're welcome Jon Snow fans. Here's to more of our favorite bastard when the HBO series returns.
