What 'Bachelorette' Rachel Is Looking For In Love

Rick Rowell/ABC

This week has been a lot for Bachelor fans. Not only did Nick shockingly send home two fan favorites on Monday night's episode, but the show spoiled part of its own ending by announcing Rachel Lindsay will be the next Bachelorette. Still, it was worth it: she'll be the first black lead in the reality franchise's 15-year run, and they need to start searching ASAP if the want to find the perfect match for this history-making woman — even if it was long overdue. But what is Bachelorette Rachel looking for in a man, anyway?

Well, first let's think about who she is. She's smart, poised, confident, and, as Nick likes to point out, she knows how to command a room. She also graduated from the University of Texas and went on to law school at Marquette University. Now, she works as a powerhouse insurance attorney in Dallas. So, she'll definitely need a guy that isn't intimidated by a strong, independent woman.

Actually, if you think about it, Rachel is kind of the total package. Beauty, brains, class — she's got it all. Considering some of the duds that have made it on the Bachelorette in the past (looking at you, Chad), it's going to be tough to make sure all the men are up to snuff. This checklist is a good place to start.

1. Someone Who's Serious About Finding Love

After breaking the news that she'd be Bachelorette on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lindsay said she definitely needed someone who was on the same page. "I'm looking for someone who's ready for what I'm ready for," she said. "At this point in my life, 31, I'm ready to find a husband."

2. Someone With A Sense of Humor

Lindsay also told Kimmel she was looking for someone with a great smile who can make her laugh.

3. Someone Playful

If Rachel and Nick's dance-filled New Orleans date is any indication, Rachel knows how to have a good time, and she'll need someone who can keep up.

4. Someone Humble

Despite all the drama, Rachel has managed to navigate competing with dozens of women for one man with grace, and her partner should be able to do the same.

5. Someone Driven

"What's the difference between a female lawyer and a pitbull? Lipstick. And red lipstick at that," Rachel wrote on Instagram. This is a woman who doesn't mess around when it comes to her career, and she'll want someone with similar drive.

6. Someone Who's Ready For A Family

Rachel has already told Nick she has a tight-knit family, so you can bet she'll expect the same for her own future.

So, to any Bachelorette hopefuls out there, read up. Rachel Lindsay isn't the type to settle for less than what she deserves.
