9 Street Style Sneakers You Can Work Out In

When it comes to my accessory of choice, I am undoubtedly a shoe girl. However, as much as I swoon over a killer stiletto or sky-high over-the-knee boots, my main form of transportation is typically walking, so street style sneakers have become my BFFs (I am no Carrie Bradshaw in Manolos). My well-worn Stan Smiths make frequent appearances from brunch to the bar and everywhere in between. Problem is, when I'm actually fitting in a workout between destinations, the trendy picks aren't that functional.

I admit, I've been known to toss my more training-friendly shoes in my bag to work out in and wear my "fake" workout kicks out and about, but the less stuff I have to carry around, the better. So even though my classic white Reeboks have a special place in my heart (and shoe rack), I love a shoe that looks cool and performs well whether I'm strength training, doing dance cardio, or hitting up a kickboxing class.

Whether they're paired with jeans and a bomber jacket or leggings and your go-to workout top, these nine picks are street-style and studio friendly. And, hey, even if you're not sweating it out in them, they'll still give any ensemble an active, on-the-go vibe.

1. Nike Air Max Thea

Muted shades of green make this shoe the ultimate neutral staple if you'd describe your style as "black on black," in and out of the gym.

2. Adidas Pureboost X Trainer Zip Shoes

When you're just too busy for laces, the zip closure on this shoe creates a modern slip-on look (while keeping the shoe snug enough for a workout).

3. APL Ascend Sneaker

These breathable kicks will do the job during squats and push-ups, but you'll want to wear this ultra-comfy quilted style even when you have zero plans to work out, too.

4. New Balance Fresh Foam Zante v3 Club Pack

New Balance Fresh Foam Zante v3 Club Pack, $110, New Balance

This lightweight shoe was designed for running, so it's supportive enough for a long jog or treadmill sprints—and anywhere you're running after, too.

5. Reebok Guresu

Reebok Guresu, $80, Reebok

These sneakers were designed for studio wear—rock them in a TRX or dance cardio class, then to a post-sweat coffee date.

6. Allbirds Wool Runners

Allbirds Wool Runners, $95, Allbirds

The flexible, lightweight design of these wool sneakers makes them ideal for a strength training session, and the minimalist look means they're versatile enough for any outfit. The best part? If they get too sweaty, toss them in a washing machine.

7. Puma IGNITE Limitless Training Shoes

Puma IGNITE Limitless Training Shoes, $170, Amazon

Because the FENTY Puma x Rihanna velvet creepers aren't exactly workout-friendly (fabulous as they are), these all-white-everything kicks will do.

8. Saucony Kineta Relay Runshield

Saucony Kineta Relay Runshield, $60, Amazon

This throwback running shoe features a water-resistant upper, so getting caught in the rain won't leave you with workout-killing soggy socks.

9. Under Armour UA Street Precision

UA Street Precision Mid EXP, $138, Amazon

If you're all about a colorful statement, these stabilizing high-tops do the trick without feeling distractingly bright.
