Jane Austen writes in Pride and Prejudice that “there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book!— When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.” Despite the fact that Caroline Bingley (ugh) says this just before tossing aside her book, the quote serves to highlight how certain characters — such as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy — really do love reading.
