Adam Scott Meeting Mark Hamill Is The Cutest

Between a constant flood of negative political tweets and scary news happening all over the world, the internet can get really overwhelming, especially when you need a break from it all. But now, all of that has changed. With Kristen Bell acting as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night, I knew she'd have something great up her sleeve, and oh boy, did she. Guest Adam Scott was surprised with meeting Mark Hamill for the first time, and even if you're not a Star Wars fan, seeing the moment happen is guaranteed to make you smile at your computer.

Since Thursday was May 4 — aka Star Wars day — there couldn't possibly have been a more appropriate time for this to go down. Bell opened by sharing a story about how Scott invited Hamill to his birthday party as a kid, hoping he'd show up, but unfortunately, he just couldn't make it. Not exactly surprising, since in the mid-seventies when Scott was little, A New Hope had only recently been released so Hamill was probably pretty busy.

But that's in the past now, because much to Scott's shock, Hamill came walking out on stage to the Star Wars theme, wielding a lightsaber, and it was quite apparent he totally made the former Parks & Rec star's life.

Seeing Scott's face when Hamill walks out on stage — and hearing all the bleeped out obscenities, TBH — is the most precious thing ever. He's so genuinely excited to see someone who was obviously one of his idols growing up, but who wouldn't be? It's Luke Skywalker!

Once he revealed himself, Hamill presented Scott with his lightsaber as a gift, and hugs were exchanged. He even apologized for missing Scott's birthday, which is just too sweet.

My one regret is that we didn't get to see more of Hamill and Scott's meeting, but somehow, just knowing his dream came true is enough. I'm really hoping that eventually, more footage of their time together will surface on Instagram or Twitter, because I'm dying to see how the rest of it went.

No matter what else happens in the world today, this video exists, this moment is real, and it is everything.
