All The New Movies & TV Shows On Amazon Prime This Month

Updated:

If your streaming service of choice is Amazon Prime, then you know that there are new movies and shows added each month to both stream and rent or buy. In October 2019, the new movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime include seven Amazon original series, several films that were released in theaters earlier this year, and a ton of old movies (like, really old movies). There’s also the option to watch sports and new and returning series TV series, especially if you're subscribed to Prime Video Channels.

Basically, there are a lot of options. The original series include the third season of legal drama Goliath, a couple of Halloween-themed kids' series, and one new show that is jam-packed with big stars falling in and out of love with each other. The TV shows that will available to watch online with special Prime Video Channels include Season 39 of Survivor and Season 1 of HBO's Watchmen. There are also some golf, basketball, and football viewing opportunities.

As for the movies, there are films that came out earlier this year, like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Midsommar, as well as some older movies that take viewers all the way back to 1929.

Read on to find out a little more about some of the movies and shows hitting Amazon in October and see their exact release dates. There's a full list of everything that will be available this month at the end.

'A.I. Artificial Intelligence'

It's the movie where Haley Joel Osment and Jude Law are robots — or, excuse me, advanced artificially intelligent humanoids, called Mecha.

'Astro Boy'

Amazon also has another robot-boy movie streaming in October. Astro Boy is about a robot that is created in a child's likeness after the child's death. Darker concept than you thought, huh?

'Hoosiers'

This 1986 movie is about a basketball coach (Gene Hackman), who starts coaching a team at a small high school in a basketball-obsessed Indiana town.

'Patriot Games'

The first film in which Harrison Ford plays CIA agent Jack Ryan hit Amazon this month. This one involves Jack Ryan killing a terrorist and then the terrorist's brother (Sean Bean) coming after him and his family.

'The Great Gabbo'

Amazon has a couple very old movies streaming this month. The Great Gabbo, from 1929, is about a ventriloquist, who can only express his emotions via his dummy. If ventriloquist dummies freak you out, this is definitely not for you.

'Glorifying The American Girl'

Also from 1929, Glorifying the American Girl is a musical about a woman who wants to join the Ziegfeld Follies.

'Spider-Man: Far From Home' — Rent/Buy

Bringing things back to present day, one of the newest movies available on Amazon is Spider-Man: Far From Home. The second Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland sees Peter Parker taking on bad guys and protecting his friends in Europe.

'High Life'

High Life is about a man (Robert Pattinson), who ends up on a spaceship alone with his baby after dark. Very disturbing things happen to all the other passengers.

'Goliath' Season 3

Amazon Prime Video on YouTube

The third season of Amazon's legal drama Goliath, starring Billy Bob Thornton, premieres on Amazon in October.

'Annabelle Comes Home' — Rent/Buy

Warner Bros. Pictures on YouTube

If you need something scary to watch this Halloween, Amazon Prime has you covered with Annabelle Comes Home, this year's addition to the Conjuring Universe, which continues the creepy adventures of its most haunted doll.

'Midsommar' — Rent/Buy

And if you need something else scary to watch, there's Midsommar, which also came out this year. The spooky film is about a group of Americans who visit a Swedish cult and have to decide just how far to go in their participation.

'Toy Story 4' — Rent/Buy

Pixar on YouTube

On a much lighter note, Toy Story 4 is available to rent or buy right now. Conveniently, it joins Amazon Prime on the same day as Annabelle Comes Home and Midsommar, in case you need to watch it afterward.
