Amazon Will Deliver Wine In Under An Hour If You Live In One Of These Cities

As summer winds to a close, you may feel compelled, as our ancestors once did, to start stockpiling for the winter. I, for instance, recently took an embarrassingly ambitious trip to Trader Joe's and single-handedly carted six bottles of "three-buck chuck" uptown on the subway. As fun as it is for us city slickers to make public spectacles of ourselves, there is, at long last, a solution to your wine shenanigans — Amazon Prime Now will deliver wine to your door in less than an hour. Be still my classless, cheap wine-guzzling heart.

Amazon has already made plenty of headlines now that their recent acquisition of Whole Foods was officially integrated into the real world this past Monday, with prices at Whole Foods slightly lowered and Amazon Echoes and Dots for sale in Whole Foods stores. That being said, I'm not sure how we all slept on the coolest news of all, which is this recent development in wine delivery that's about to change the lives of lazy people forever. Granted, this delivery service only works if you are an Amazon Prime Now member, a subscription service slightly beyond Amazon Prime that was released in 2014.

While Amazon Prime Now, a quick delivery service of household items, essentials, and groceries, is offered in over 30 cities, only 12 lucky cities will have access to wine and beer delivery (some with spirits, too). Two-hour delivery will be free to members, but one hour delivery will have an extra charge of $8.

Here is a list of the cities currently eligible for the promotion:

  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Chicago, IL
  • Columbus, OH
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • New York City, NY
  • Phoenix. AZ
  • Portland, OR
  • Richmond, VA
  • San Diego, CA
  • San Francisco Bay Area, CA
  • Seattle, WA

If you're city isn't on this list, first off, move, and second, odds are that it will expand out to where you are at some point in the near future. Clearly this is going to be a successful venture for them, if the sales to my apartment and the apartments of my immediate friend group are anything to go by.

Even if you're not in one of the cities where Amazon Prime Now offers wine delivery, there's plenty you can still take advantage of with the program. And by "plenty" I mean you can Prime yourself cake and only God and Tina Fey can judge you. You can check out all of Amazon Prime Now's offerings here — in the meantime, if anybody needs me, I'm about to take a deep dive into the dessert section and see how much damage to my wallet I can make in one go.
