If you're as big a fan of Anna Faris as you should be, then it didn't escape your attention that Anna Faris' first appearance without Chris Pratt would be at the 2017 Emmy Awards. As a painful recap, the couple recently announced that they would be separating, leading many to stop believing in love — or at least stop believing in love in Hollywood. But Faris' 2017 Emmy appearance shouldn't just be looked at within the lens of not involving Pratt, because she was supported by her co-star and friend Allison Janney, too.

When she Faris the award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series alongside Janney, she expertly played someone who couldn't quite nail the fine art of comedic timing — showing off her comedic timing and acting skill. In that way, Faris showed that, while the separation has no doubt captured the attention of many, it's far from the only thing going on in her life.

She and Pratt announced their split in August with an Instagram photo of a statement that appeared to be in a text message bubble. It read,

"We are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still love each other and will always cherish our time together."

The couple had been together for eight years and share a son together, Jack.

After the announcement, Faris said, in response to a caller question on her podcast, "Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel this isn’t fully right or somebody doesn’t have your back, or somebody doesn’t fully value you." She then admitted that this was a mistake that she had made in her life before, though she didn't specify if she was talking about Pratt or relationships before him. But, on the Emmys stage Sunday night, that all couldn't seem further from her mind. Though she's largely flown under the radar in recent weeks, she was back with a vengeance and had the crowd laughing like the comedian that she is.

Of course, with Janney nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Mom, it's no wonder that Faris would come out to support her — even if she wasn't already presenting alongside Janney for another category. After all, she's had nothing but praise for Janney over the years. In 2015, when Entertainment Weekly tweeted asking for questions to pitch to celebrities on the red carpet, Faris replied with, "can you please tell Allison Janney on the red carpet that I love her so much and I'm so lucky she's in my life!" And the adoration is mutual. After the announcement of the split, Janney said in response to a question about the news, "[Faris] just is a trooper. She comes to work with a smile on her face. She's a professional. I love her to death."

In addition, Faris has had a lot to occupy her besides changes in her personal life. She recently announced on her Instagram that she was going on a book tour to support her comic memoir Unqualified, which will be released on October 24, 2017. According to the description from Penguin Random House, the book is "part memoir... part humorous, unflinching advice" from Anna Faris is Unqualified, her podcast. The publisher also mentions that the book will give the actor's "unique take on how to master the bizarre, chaotic, and ultimately rewarding world of love."

So, yeah, there are likely many fans who think they're taking Faris' separation as hard as she is. But she's hitting the ground running as a professional every step of the way, and nowhere was that best shown than with her appearance at the Emmys. Let's focus more on that and how cute her friendship with Janney is than her split.
