These Special Edition iPhones Help Fight AIDS

Apple

If you're in the market for a new iPhone, now would be a good time to get one. Starting on March 24, you can buy the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition, a shiny red phone that benefits the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. That means your phone will not only be so bright and colorful it's impossible to lose in your bag but also help combat an epidemic that affects over 37 million people globally.

Bono and Bobby Shriver founded (RED) to raise money for AIDS relief through partnerships with companies. The sales go toward the Global Fund, an organization that gives $4 billion per year to local AIDS prevention and treatment programs in 140 different countries. The money raised by (RED) in particular goes toward Subsaharan Africa, largely to prevent the transmission of AIDS from mothers to children.

Apple's been partnering with (PRODUCT)RED for a decade to make special editions of products including the iPod nano and Beats headphones and speakers. There were even virtual (PRODUCT)RED products in Kim Kardashian's iPhone game, which you could buy to raise money for AIDS awareness. The Apple-RED partnership has given $130 million to the fund, helping sub-Saharan African AIDS patients get ARV medication.

There are plenty of other reasons to upgrade your iPhone, including the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus's advanced cameras, long-lasting battery life, and the latest versions of apps (but be warned, they don't have a headphone jack).

You can get the phones online or in Apple stores for $749, and they'll ship to over 40 countries by the end of the month.
