Very unfortunately, without any invitation to do so, on Aug. 13, 2017, Mercury went into retrograde for the third time this year, and will stay there until Sept. 5. The good news is: retrograde will be over in two weeks. The bad news is: we have to wait two weeks for this retrograde to be over!

The end of the summer can be a hectic time. The heat leaves you kind of jaded and makes it hard for you to focus at work, yet your busy September calendar is coming whether you're ready for it or not. So the end of August can tend to feel chaotic, unorganized, and stressful, even without the help of a backward motion planet wrecking havoc on our psyches.

In my opinion, the best way to combat the combination of the end of summer madness and Mercury in retrograde is to find tools that you can rely on to make you calm, and use them regularly. Whether it's exercise, mediation, or journaling, there's something simple you can add into your schedule that will actually lighten the load. And if you're sitting there thinking that you have absolutely no time to add workouts or mediation blocks to your day, fret not. There are tons of apps that will help you find your zen even when you don't have time for it. On the go, during a break, in between meetings, there's always time to take care of yourself, especially if you've got an app for that. Here are some of my favorite apps to combat the effects of Mercury's retrograde:

Mercury Retrograde

iTunes

Stay in the know about Mercury's retrograde with this app that tracks them all for you. Sync it to your calendar to make sure that you don't schedule important events during peak retrograde, just to be safe.

The Worry Box

Google Play

This app is perfect for people who want to journal but don't have time for it. The app not only catalogues your worries, but it classifies them and gives you tips for managing them. It's like having a life coach, on demand.

What's Up

iTunes

Sometimes checking in with yourself is the most important way to combat stress. This app does literally just that — forces you to think about how you feel and log your day to day state of being.

Happify

iTunes

When your life feels really out of control, it's easy to cut out happiness as a priority. This app helps you retrain your brain to seek pleasure, and defend you from the negative effects of stress and anxiety.

Calm

iTunes

A good night's sleep is the best way to face the day. But if you're like me, you have trouble falling asleep when you're stressed, and it's even worse when Mercury is in retrograde. This app lulls you to sleep with super peaceful noise options that your busy mind will thank you for at the end of the day.

Rest & Relax Mediation

iTunes

If you're one of those people who thinks they don't have time to relax, this app will help you find the time. Plus, it will guide you through a meditation so you really don't have to do any of the thinking.

Pacifica

iTunes

With built-in guidance from psychologists, this app helps you keep track of your emotions, while offering solutions and meditations to help you deal with them and track your progress.

HelloMind

iTunes

This app offers guided hypnosis in a variety of areas you might be struggling in. Pick a cause that calls to you and work it out with a series of audio sessions.

Evernote

iTunes

When your life feels too chaotic to manage, organize it. Keep your lists in one place and stay on top of your tasks and responsibilities with this app. It will make large projects seem like simple step-by-step processes.
