If you thought you were excited to see a new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer during the Super Bowl, brace yourself. Not only did we get a better look at everyone's favorite character in the spot, but it also inspired a Baby Groot Twitter emoji to make all of our Super Bowl tweets absolutely adorable. In fact, there are emojis for the entire Guardians team, but let's be real, Baby Groot is going to be the one filling your timeline on Sunday night.
If you don't remember, audiences first met Baby Groot at the very end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy (spoilers ahead). After the adult Groot sacrificed himself to save his friends, a crushed Rocket planted one of his remaining twigs in a pot. In a hilarious post-credits scene, we see that the twig has grown into a young Groot, who apparently loves dancing to Michael Jackson — but only when no one is watching. The trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shows that Groot will still be very young in the sequel, though he has apparently grown enough to walk around on his own two legs and won't be confined to Rocket's pot. Since I'm sure your first thought after watching that was to tweet about Baby Groot, you may have already noticed that if you tweet either #BabyGroot or just #Groot, a cute little emoji of his face immediately comes up right next to it.
Though his emoji is definitely the cutest, it's not the only option. If you tweet any of the Guardians' names as a hashtag, you'll get an emoji of the character, and if you tweet #GotGVol2, you'll see a tiny version of Awesome Mix Vol. 2. Hopefully, seeing the team's emoji-fied faces on Twitter will be enough to hold us over until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released on May 5.
