Can You Save Instagram Live Stories?

Last year, Instagram launched its Live feature, which lets users give their followers a peak into their lives in real time. But after they streamed these videos, they disappeared. Today, though, that's changing: The photo-sharing site just revealed how to save Instagram Live stories.

You broadcast a video like usual, and afterward, there'll be a "save" button in the upper right corner. If you press it and then press "done," the video will get saved to your phone. Likes and comments won't be saved along with it, though, and it won't show up on your Instagram page. But presumably, you could upload it to Instagram once it's saved in your phone's camera roll. Facebook Live has a similar capability.

Initially, Instagram didn't enable saving videos because they wanted users to be free from the self-consciousness they might feel if the broadcasts were to remain online. But since saving is optional, this perk won't be compromised.

"We are excited by how our community is using live video to connect with their friends and followers in the moment," the post reads. "These updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.12 available for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play."

The past few months have been busy ones for Instagram. Last month, it began letting users include multiple photos in one post so that they can share galleries around central themes or events. In December, it added a new feature that lets users save the posts they like and view them in one central location. And soon before that, users gained the ability to "like" comments like you do on Facebook, block commenting to keep away the trolls, and remove people from their followers list to maintain their privacy.

And it's showing no signs of slowing down. The post revealing the saving capability announced that this is one of many new video features Instagram will be rolling out in 2017. We have no doubt they'll come up with something equally useful next.
