2017 was certainly one hell of a year for rapper Cardi B. who, with the help of her infectious debut single "Bodak Yellow," became the first female rapper to top the Billboard charts since 1998. Recent news that Cardi B. is performing at the 2018 Grammy Awards is just an exciting addition to an already stellar night for the emcee, who's up for two nominations at the upcoming awards ceremony on Jan. 28.

On Wednesday, Entertainment Tonight reported that Cardi will perform alongside Bruno Mars at this year's event, as the two will presumably showcase their new song, "Finesse (Remix)." The single's video was met with great response from viewers who were totally intrigued by the visual's '90s In Living Color theme. The qualities of nostalgia are something that Cardi and Bruno Mars will hopefully incorporate into their performance on the Madison Square Garden stage. In addition to her collaboration with Mars, it's also assumed that Cardi will offer fans a performance of her hit song "Bodak Yellow," given that the track is a contender for two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the soirée.

A celebration of the past year in music, the 60th Grammy Awards ceremony will be the culmination of the Bronx rapper's breakthrough into the industry. Cardi signed with Atlantic Records in February 2017 and released her debut single "Bodak Yellow" in June of the same year. A breakout success, "Bodak Yellow" was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in November, and Cardi's collaborations "No Limit" and "MotorSport" would make her the first woman to chart her first three entries on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 10 simultaneously.

In addition to Cardi and Bruno Mars, the awards show also announced other performances for the night's soirée, which include Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Childish Gambino, Lady Gaga, Pink, Kesha, and SZA, who is notably the most nominated women of the evening with five considerations in total. Additionally, Alessia Cara, Khalid, and Logic — all of whom are first-time nominees — will perform "1-800-273-8255," according to ET.

Although a newcomer to the game, there's so much hype surrounding Cardi's recent success that it's hard to shy away from the notion that her performance may just be the biggest spectacle of the night.

As for his part in the festivities, Mars is a contender for six of the evening's coveted categories, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Album for 24K Magic, as well as Record of the Year for "24K Magic" and Song of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Performance of the Year for "That's What I Like." The awards show, which will again be hosted by late-night television personality James Corden, is slated to air live from New York City's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.

A natural born entertainer with plenty of personality, Cardi B. quickly won over the hearts of fans who have either been following her during her early days as an Instagram celebrity, watched her intriguing antics on Love & Hip Hop, or became attracted to her irresistible flow while listening to "Bodak Yellow."

As a major success on every platform she seeks to conquer, Cardi B's Grammy Awards debut will hopefully prove to solidify the huge year that she had in 2017 — especially if she manages to snag a win or two during the night's trophy handout. With a long and prosperous career seemingly ahead for the 25-year-old entertainer, this year's Grammy celebration appears to be the just the beginning of many more to come.
