Billie Lourd is honoring someone her mother loved dearly in the perfect way. Tuesday was Carrie Fisher’s dog Gary’s birthday and he turned five (or 35 in dog years), Lourd announced in a Snapchat video she posted to Instagram Tuesday. Alongside the cute video of herself (in which she is sporting Snapchat’s famous dog filter) and Gary, she wrote, “Happy 5th / 35th birthday to my #brotherfromanothermother #sunsouttonguesout.” She even stuck her tongue out, like Gary, which made the birthday wish all the more special.

Gary became so popular thanks to his late mom that he even has his own official Instagram. Speaking of, he wished himself a happy birthday on his account. Next to a picture of himself lounging on a chair with a photoshopped crown on his head, Gary wrote, “Happy 5th b day to me [party hat and dog emojis] #garyfisher #garyloveshismom #garymisseshismom #itsmybirthday.” Try not to weep at his two hashtags reading, “Gary loves his mom” and “Gary misses his mom.” Thanks, Gary, for making your fans so emotional.

As for Lourd, it’s nice to see that the Scream Queens star is making sure Gary has a lovely birthday. For those unaware, Gary and Fisher had a close relationship. She even brought him to major Hollywood events, including red carpets. Remember that time Fisher, Gary, and Tom Hiddleston posed together at the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner? Fisher and Gary truly were the best of friends.

I’m sure if Fisher were around, she’d be celebrating up a storm with Gary. Sadly she’s not, but at least Lourd is taking it upon herself to ensure her mom’s dog is having a great day. That’s exactly what Fisher would want.

Now let’s all wish Gary a very happy birthday, because he so deserves it.
