Cat Grant Finally Returns On 'Supergirl'

Bettina Strauss/The CW

Ready your pop culture praise hands, because Cat Grant is back on Supergirl, according to the promo for next Monday's episode "Resist." She couldn't have picked a better moment, as National City is currently under siege by Daxamites lead by the angry mother of Kara's boyfriend. Hopefully Ms. Grant (Calista Flockhart) will be able to help save the day, and dole out some of her signature feminist advice as well.

I'm honestly not surprised that she's back already. Not only is the season coming to a close, but she left James in charge of CatCo and I'm not positive that he's even fully moved in to that fancy office. Much like Kara, James has been working two additional jobs, both at the DEO and as a vigilante force of justice known as Guardian. It seems like CatCo is running smoothly, but I have a hunch that it's not quite up to the old boss' standards.

There are only two episodes left in Season 2, so Cat's return is bittersweet in a way. In the promo, it appears that she is speaking directly to Supergirl. Though, Cat knows Kara's secret identity, lest we forget. That's definitely a good thing. She can be more involved that way. By the looks of this tiny glimpse into her return, she's definitely part of the resistance.

This should also put a nice cap on Kara's career journey, too. Remember that it was Cat Grant who predicted Kara would make a good reporter. It will be nice for her to check in with her mentor. Supergirl is all about the work, secret work, and life balance. Cat helps to ground things, and I'm so thankful that she's finally back.
