It's been about a year and a half since Céline Dion's late husband René Angélil passed at the age of 73, and according to the singer, her children have been an essential part of her effort to cope with his death. Dion had three children with Angélil — their eldest son René-Charles, and twins named Eddy and Nelson. According to the Daily Mail, René-Charles is almost an adult at 16 years old, while Dion's twins are only 6.

On Sunday, May 21, Dion is scheduled to perform her mega-hit "My Heart Will Go On" at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, in honor of the 20th anniversary of Titanic. God, can you believe it's been two full decades since that movie came out? Anyone else remember buying the two-tape VHS box when Titanic was released to home video? In order to watch the whole movie, you literally had to take one tape out of your VCR and put the second one in. Oh, the late '90s... such a crazy time to be alive.

I mention the BBMAs, because it was last year at the 2016 award show that Dion's son René-Charles surprised his mother by presenting her with the Icon Award in a moment that had the world collectively reaching for tissues. The two later posed for photos together, and seriously, they made for such a great pair that I'm hoping Dion decides to bring René-Charles along to the 2017 BBMAs, so that we can get pictures of them posing on the red carpet.

Earlier in the year, Dion spoke to Extra about how her children were helping her cope with the loss of her late husband. "To be honest, they’re remarkable," she said. "They are helping me, I am helping them — it’s mutual." Dion went on to explain that she was proud of how her children handled Angélil's illness in the lead up to his passing and that they gave her the strength to continue performing. Dion said,

"What makes me most proud is to be a mother. I have three magnificent kids, that through them, I see my husband and I have the strength today to keep dressing up."

It's always sad when a child loses a parent at a young age, but the twins are definitely fortunate to have a strong mother like Dion.

This family is incredibly strong, and it's great that they can look to each other for support. Hopefully Dion's kids (or at least René-Charles) are able to show up to cheer on their mother when she takes stage at this year's BBMAs.
