Here is some sad news in the entertainment world. Charlie Murphy died at 57, TMZ reported Wednesday. Not only was he a memorable comedian, but he was also the older brother of fellow comedian and actor Eddie Murphy. His manager confirmed the news to TMZ and said he died from leukemia at a New York City hospital Wednesday morning. His rep also confirmed the news to E! News. Per TMZ, Murphy was reportedly going through chemotherapy.

Before Murphy, his wife, Tisha Taylor Murphy, died from cervical cancer in 2009. They married in 1997 and also have two children together, who now survive both of them. Murphy also has a third child from a previous relationship.

Like his younger brother, Murphy was known for his comedic talents, especially when he was doing stand up. He also starred in several projects, including Are We There Yet?, The Boondocks, and Black Jesus. He also co-wrote some films starring his brother, like Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn. You also probably recognize him from his work on Chapelle's Show and his Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories bits. His most recent work included a comedy tour, The Comedy Get Down Tour, featuring Eddie Griffin, George Lopez, and D.L. Hughley.

Murphy actually took to Twitter Tuesday evening and wrote in a telling tweet, "One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible."

There's no doubt Murphy left his mark on the comedy world and will never be forgotten for his talent.
