It's not the first time the former first daughter stood up for the president's young son. On Monday, Chelsea Clinton defended Barron Trump after the conservative website Daily Caller criticized the 11-year-old for not dressing "the part" of a first son in one of its articles. "It's High Time Barron Trump Starts Dressing Like He's In the White House," the headline screamed, and having stood in Barron's shoes during her father's presidency, the criticism the young boy receives likely hits close to home for Clinton.

"It's high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves," Clinton retorted in a tweet, along with a link to the article in question.

The Daily Caller piece included photos President Trump, first lady Melania, and Barron disembarking from a plane on Sunday after returning to the White House from New Jersey, where the president had spent a little over two weeks on vacation. The president is pictured wearing a formal suit and tie, and the first lady in a dress and high heels. Their son, however, was wearing a much more casual outfit — khaki shorts, loafers, and a red t-shirt with the words "On Your Mark Tiger Shark," the image of a shark printed on it.

The Daily Caller writer opined that Barron "looked like he was hopping on Air Force One for a trip to the movie theater," and added that while Barron doesn't technically have any responsibilities as the first son, "the least he could do is dress the part when he steps out in public."

Clinton has come to the defense of the president's youngest son in the past. In January, after a Saturday Night Live writer tweeted a joke about Barron becoming America's "first homeschool shooter," Clinton took to Facebook to call out the negativity and scrutiny directed at him.

Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing POTUS policies that hurt kids.

Clinton wasn't alone in taking issue with this latest instance of criticism against Barron. Comedian Chelsea Handler tweeted "Poor Barron" on Monday.

Funnily enough, while the Daily Caller article writer might not have appreciated the youngest Trump's style choices, others evidently did. Shortly after photos of Barron wearing the "tiger shark" shirt hit the internet, users on Reddit began a hunt to track it down. After being found on the J. Crew website, the shirt quickly went out of stock — "We're sorry. This item has been so popular, it has sold out," the listing currently reads.
