You Can Buy Oreo & Chips Ahoy Cakes For One At Walmart

by Lia Beck

You might think putting together a mug cake is the easiest way to make your own single-serving cake, but, oh, are you sorely mistaken. Duncan Hines now has single-serving Oreo & Chips Ahoy! cakes that come in their own container. It's a no-mug mug cake that you are still technically making yourself since you do have to add water and press some buttons on your microwave.

As pointed out by the food Instagram account Junk Food Mom, the new cake mixes come in some recognizable flavors: a Cookie & Crème Cake with Oreo pieces, a Chocolate Chip Cake with Chips Ahoy! cookie pieces, and a S'mores Cake with Honey Maid graham crackers pieces. The cake mix comes in a cup and the cookies bits are separated on top of the container, like those yogurt mix-in cups, so you can see what you're getting.

According to Junk Food Mom, the mixes are in stores now. As of now, it's hard to find them online, but it does appear that some Hannaford stores stock them. A commenter on the Junk Food Mom account said they found them in Hy-Vee.

These are far from the first Duncan Hines Perfect Size for 1 cakes, but they do seem to be the first ones to come in their own cup. The other Duncan Hines Perfect Size for 1 cakes come in a box with four mix packets. The packets can then be put into a mug, mixed with water (or sometimes juice), and microwaved. These ones come in 25 varieties, including Mocha Cake, Confetti Cake, Caramel Brownie, and also breakfast options like oat cups and muffins.

There are also the Perfect Size cakes that, according to Duncan Hines, are the perfect size for two to four people, but according to the suggested serving size, are the perfect size for five people. Obviously, serving size is in the eye of the beholder, so if you want these to also be the "perfect size for one", that's your decision. The brand's website lists nine flavors of Perfect Size cake mixes, but there is also a special Valentine's Day heart-shaped cake on the market currently. These ones come with their own mini pan, cake mix, and frosting or glaze mix to top it off.

Duncan Hines isn't the only brand to offer mug cake mixes. Betty Crocker is in the mug cake game with Mug Treats, which come in eight flavors including, Cinnamon Roll, Rainbow Chip Cake, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie. The Betty Crocker cakes come with their own frosting or other topping in the package. The brand Foodstirs also has mug cakes with their Just For You Minute Mug Cake Mixes. They come in Celebration Confetti, Molten Chocolate Chip, and Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake. Then there's the Ghiradelli mug brownie mix that comes in flavors like Salted Caramel and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Making your own mug cake — like really making it from a scratch — is also an option and there are plenty of recipes out there.

So, no matter what you choose, making a single-serving cake without turning on your oven is very much an option. You just have to pick from one of the many, many flavors.
