This McD's Secret Menu Item Is Official Now

by Sara Levine

March is a pretty garbage month — it's still cold, despite the fact that you want it to be spring, and there are no days off. Really, the only redeeming aspect of the entire month is the fact that St. Patrick's Day is in March. And let's be real, St. Patrick's Day is pretty great — any excuse to wear and consume green things is a yes in my book. Case in point: the McDonald's Shamrock Shake. It's green, it's delicious, it's got a festive name — what's not to love? This glass of minty goodness is back just in time to brighten up your winter, only this time it comes with a special twist: chocolate. That's right, you'll soon be able to get Chocolate Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's. Bustle has reached out to McDonald's and will update if/when we hear back.

Though the Shamrock Shake has been around since 1970, the Chocolate Shamrock Shake is making its debut this year. However, people have been drinking the chocolatey, minty green treats for some time now by requesting their Shamrock Shake be blended with a chocolate shake. It wasn't officially on the menu, but was a secret menu item for customers in the know. Fortunately, this year you won't have to make a special request, and you can just order a Chocolate Shamrock Shake right off the menu. What a time to be alive!

But wait, that's not all! In addition to the Chocolate Shamrock Shake, McDonald's is adding a Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappé, Shamrock Hot Chocolate, and Shamrock Mocha. The Frappé, according to Brand Eating, will have mocha frappe, shamrock shake syrup, and whipped cream; the mocha will combine chocolate syrup, espresso, steamed milk, and shamrock shake syrup. Basically, all of these variations sound amazing and the only downside to these new shakes is that it will make the ordering process that much harder. But considering that's not a real problem, I'll take it.
