Since before last year's presidential election (and beyond), certain celebrities have been outspoken on social media about their opinions on Donald Trump, and since he was inaugurated, many of those tweets have been centered on and the executive orders he's signed over the past week. So far, I've been really interested in hearing Chrissy Teigen's commentary on what's been going on in the news lately, and now, she's fighting for another important cause. In a recent tweet, Teigen pointed out that her mom is an immigrant, and it's pretty obvious that this particular issue is very personal for her and her family.

Last week, Trump signed an executive order into effect that temporarily banned refugees from entering the country for the next 120 days, including a ban on all other people entering from certain countries for 90 days. Since then, protests have broken out all over the country. And even though the ban has now been temporarily halted, Teigen is letting her voice be heard. On Sunday night, one of her followers (who has since deleted his account) suggested that she let immigrants and refugees into her home instead of asking her followers to donate money to the ACLU. And not only did Teigen share the screenshot she took of his tweet before it was deleted, but she also called him out by reminding him of one very important thing.

Here's the tweet the Twitter user sent her:

And her response:

Yeah, it sounds like Shigeo1 is going to need some ice for that burn.

If you're a fan of Teigen, chances are you already know all about her mom, Vilailuck, who immigrated here from Thailand and frequently uses Twitter and Instagram to share adorable photos of her granddaughter, Luna, and cheer on her daughter's career. Although it's easy to be against the ban even if you don't know anyone who's directly affected by it, it's pretty clear that this one is hitting close to home for Teigen and her family.

Despite the rude messages she often gets from followers calling her out for sharing her opinions, I'm glad Teigen continues to be candid in standing up not only for herself but also those who are affected by Trump's policies. It's a little ridiculous that some people think that celebrities shouldn't share their political opinions. They live in this country too, right? Teigen's fully within her rights to be especially upset with this ban, and I'm glad to see she's continuing to speak up for what's right.

So there it is: one more reason to absolutely adore Teigen, just in case you needed it. Even though we're living in what feels like a pretty scary time, it's nice to know that there are people using their voices for good, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else Teigen has to say.
