Craig Mazin Is The Least Surprised Of Everyone About Ted Cruz's Porn Like

Texas Senator Ted Cruz is known for his hardcore right-wing political views, but it seemed like on Tuesday, after the senator's Twitter account liked a porn video, the senator may have revealed his taste for another sort of hardcore. While Cruz's spokesperson was quick to say that the like was not intentional and has been reported to Twitter, the porn like left Cruz's college roommate, Craig Mazin, unsurprised.

“Now imagine Ted Cruz is doing this four feet below you in the bottom bunk bed. Yes, my misery very much appreciates your company," Mazin, a screenwriter and director who shared a room with Cruz at Princeton, tweeted. But that wasn't all Mazin, who has claimed Cruz was widely loathed at Princeton, had to say following the Twitter porn like: “Sadly, the fact that Ted Cruz jacks off to mediocre porn spam is the most human thing we can say about him. This is actually his high point," Mazin said. “I never wanted this for any of you. I thought maybe I'd feel better if two or three people knew. Not six billion. That said? I FEEL BETTER."

According to TMZ, the Texas senator's account liked a porn video posted by a Twitter handle called "Sexuall Posts." The video shows a blonde woman stimulating herself while watching a couple having sex. Because likes are public on Twitter and compiled on a Twitter user's page, the Ted Cruz account's like was easy to spot. "The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter," Catherine Frazier‏, Cruz's spokeswoman, tweeted early on Tuesday.

This isn't the first time that the conservative Ted Cruz, a contender for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination who was ultimately best by Donald Trump, has provoked public ire from his Princeton roommate. In 2016, Mazin, who is known for writing credits for the second and third installments of The Hangover movie, poked fun at Cruz after reporters unearthed a 2007 lawsuit in which Cruz, as Texas solicitor general, argued for a ban on selling and advertising sex toys.

In a 76-page brief defending the state's law, which said that those who sold sex toys illegally could be sentenced to jail for two years, Cruz and his team said that “there is no substantive-due-process right to stimulate one’s genitals for non-medical purposes unrelated to procreation or outside of an interpersonal relationship.” Cruz's appeal was rejected, and the law struck down, but when the lawsuit surfaced, Mazin chimed in saying: "Ted Cruz thinks people don't have a right to 'stimulate their genitals.' I was his college roommate. This would be a new belief of his."

And though Cruz's team seems like it may be scrambling to dust this episode under the rug, the Twitter handle that posted the video the Ted Cruz official account liked is proud to include the Texas senator among its audience. On Tuesday, Sexuall Posts Twitter bio read: "Follow for the Same Porn @TedCruz Watches." Other Twitter users pointed out that Cruz's account liked the porn video after a day that is usually reserved for solemnity, in remembrance of the terrorist attacks against the U.S. that occurred in 2001. "Don't forget to vote in the New York primary today!" comedian Samantha Bee posted on Twitter on Tuesday. "And that Ted Cruz was spankin' it on 9/11."

The fact that Ted Cruz's official account liked a porn video on Twitter caused a stir not only because the senator's conservative views. Like Mazin, many senior lawmakers in Congress are reported to revile the Texas senator. According to The Washington Post, Cruz has been called a “wacko bird” and a “jackass” publicly, and his fellow GOP Senator Lindsey Graham has even said that no senator would blame — or convict — a person charged with murdering Cruz. “If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you,” Graham said.

At the time of writing this article, Ted Cruz's office had not elaborated on the Twitter like beyond his spokesperson's tweet.
