Here's How Democrats Graded Trump's First 100 Days

President Donald Trump's 100th day in office is fast approaching, and it seems as if everyone — and I do mean everyone — is grading his performance in office. But while voters appear split on the president's performance, Congressional Democrats have graded Trump's first 100 days with a series of failing grades.

In a statement to reporters Thursday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi characterized Trump's first few months in office as "100 days of broken promises to working people and 100 days of handouts to the wealthiest people in our country."

In the run up to the 100-day mark, Congressional Democrats have used daily press conferences to drive home criticism of what they call President Trump's "broken promises."

"The grades are coming due for President Trump after a starkly dismal first 100 days," Pelosi told reporters Friday. "Budget: F. Creating jobs: F. Draining the swamp: F. Healthcare: F-minus."

Pelosi isn't the only Democrat labeling Trump's first 100 days in office a failure. In an op-ed published by USA Today, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer cited health care, the budget, draining the swamp, as well as jobs and the economy as four key areas where Trump has failed to make good on his campaign promises.

"Since taking office, Trump has either failed to fulfill or broken outright many of the campaign promises he made to working Americans — and now they’re paying the price for it," Schumer wrote. He criticized the president for attempting to use executive orders to mask the fact that he has been "unable to achieve significant legislation."

But while Democrats may not think much of what Trump has done in his first 100 days in office, they're not dismissing the idea of crossing the aisle to get things done quite yet. Earlier in the week, Schumer told MSNBC that although he and other Democrats were giving Trump failing grades, he was not opposed to working with the president on issues like health care, infrastructure, and foreign policy.

Although grades for Trump's first 100 days in office vary wildly based on who is issuing them, Congressional Democrats' failing report card may be closer to the mark than the high grades that supporters of the president have issued. Polls show Trump has the lowest job approval rating of any president at this point in their presidency. According to a CNN/ORC poll released Thursday, just 44 percent of respondents said they approve of Trump's performance as president, compared to 54 percent who disapproved.
