Aubrey Graham aka Drake has never shied away from reminding us all that he once starred as Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi, but his latest reminder is just too much. On Tuesday, Drake shared a Degrassi pay check from March 2017 on Instagram, blurring out everything on it but the date and exactly how much he was paid. Now, the actor-turned-rapper hasn't been on the show since 2007, but the 145 episodes that he appeared in still air on occasion, and residual checks are a thing. But apparently not a thing you can live on years later, as Drake deftly proved with this photo.

Because, you see, the rapper's check is only for $8.25. This bears repeating: he starred in 145 episodes of the long-running Canadian television drama as Jimmy Brooks — and, hello, he's Drake — and he's making $8.25 from the show to this day. It's always nice to see that a celebrity hasn't forgotten their roots on a cultural institution like Degrassi, even if their roots are only sending them $8.25 now. As the rapper himself joked in the caption, "Degrassi money still coming in don't sleeeeeeeep..."

And, naturally, fans are cracking up over both this revelation and the hilarious way Drake presented it it to them.

Listen, Degrassi is the gift that keeps on giving. Even if the show has long since moved on from Jimmy Brooks, Jimmy Brooks has not long since moved on from our hearts — or from Drake's. And that fact has just made fans love him even more.

1. When You Have To Get Real

What do you mean "a whole"?

2. When You Know What To Do

Whatever gets fans watching again.

3. When You Drop Some Truth Bombs

It really puts your life in perspective.

4. When You Respect Drake Even More

Celebrities! They're just like us!

5. When You Learn A Lesson

Thanks, Drake.

6. When Your Mind Is Blown

First gigs stay with you for life.

7. When You Reach A Conclusion

And that's all that matters.

It's easy to laugh over the fact that Drake, who is worth an estimated $90 million according to Forbes, is only getting $8.25 from his original stint on Degrassi nowadays. But, as the rapper has said in the past, the show gave him his start and helped him reach the heights he's at today, and he's clearly never going to stop honoring that.
