Emma Watson Squirms Watching An 'HP' Movie Outtake

No matter how hard she tries to escape it, it seems that Emma Watson will always be Hermione Granger. What's more, she's always been Hermione Granger, even before her turn in the Harry Potter franchise. On Monday night, Watson was subjected to an early outtake from The Sorcerer's Stone on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and it was as precious as it was revealing.

When the actor and the talk show host were talking about how she started filming the franchise as a 9-year-old, and she confirmed what we all already know: that she was a big fan before hand. "Oh my god, it was a huge part of my life," the actress said. And, with that, Kimmel unearthed an outtake of a tiny little Watson — flanked by co-stars Rupert Grint and a glasses-less Daniel Radcliffe — reciting lines from the film.

The problem is, Watson doesn't really have lines in this particular exchange. Instead, she's mouthing parts of Ron and Harry's conversation. "You're helping them with their lines," Kimmel laughingly points out to a mortified Watson.

"You laugh, but this is actually quite traumatic for me because I created issues because of this," she said. Apparently, they had to film several takes because Watson kept mouthing the words, and director Chris Columbus would have to keep cutting the scene to point it out. "But, like, I couldn't help myself, it's like... I was such a loser.... I really love those books, I really wanted to do my job well, and I kinda overdid it."

Even though on paper this feels every amateur hour (which of course it does, because she was a child, it doesn't get more amateur than that), it's also very Hermione for her to channel her love of the books in such a way. And it feels like a consummate overachiever move typical of the cleverest witch of her age to learn the lines of both herself and her co-workers. How can you not flashback to all the times Hermione did Harry and Ron's homework, or when she would eagerly raise her hand to answer someone else's question? So, in a backwards sort of way, our girl had really gotten into the role.

I trust that, even though her acting prowess has gotten better, Watson brought that sense of perfectionism to her role as Belle in the upcoming live-action Beauty & the Beast, and I'm excited to see the end results. For now, though, flashback to a simpler time with this adorable clip.
