Night King From 'GoT' Gets A Spotify-Approved Playlist

What would a cool guy like the Night King listen to while he's trying to destroy The Wall? Well, you don't have to wonder any longer, because Spotify made a playlist for Game Of Thrones' Night King that answers this very question. The "Winter Is Here" playlist was created by Spotify with help from GOT's music supervisor Evyen Klean, who expertly rounds up a few of the Night King's favorite things. But unlike Julie Andrews, there are no references to raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens — just a whole lot of death, darkness, and despair.

No surprise, Klean assumes the Night King is a big metal fan with Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Metallica ("When Hell Freezes Over" is a nice touch) all popping up for your listening pleasure. Ozzy Osbourne also makes an appearance on this personalized soundtrack for the undead leader of the White Walkers. A guy who supposedly bit the head off a bat definitely feels like the right choice for this chilly baddie.

But for all the songs that feel appropriate, there are those that may surprise you. Radiohead pops up a few times — three, to be exact. Apparently, the Night King has an atmospheric indie rock side, who knew? But more shocking may be to find out the character also likes to chill out with The Killers' "Mr. Brightside." Can't help but feel like Klean may be trolling fans with that one, since the Night King playing a major factor in Season 7 (premiering July 16) feels like a real glass-half-empty situation.

While Ed Sheeran didn't make it on the Night King's winter playlist, the singer will appear in Season 7. Sheeran will reportedly serenade Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), but told Entertainment Tonight fans shouldn't get their hopes up. "I just know the scene I did, I did with Maisie [Williams], and it's decent. I like it," he said. "Nothing exciting happens in this scene, we just have a conversation and that's kind of it."

Sheeran joins a whole list of other musicians who have appeared on Game Of Thrones, most of whom didn't take part in anything exciting besides singing. Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol showed up in a traveling band, while Coldplay drummer Will Champion played at the Red Wedding, and unlike the Starks, made it out of their alive. The band Mastodon got in on the action, showing up at the Battle of the Bastards to not sing, but instead get murdered. However, Mastodon had appeared on 2015's Catch The Throne: The Mixtape Volume 2.

As it turns out, Night King isn't the only one who got his own playlist. The HBO series released two other playlists. The first Catch The Throne mixtape featured rappers like Outkast's Big Boi singing about his favorite character, Daenerys Targaryen, on a track fittingly called "Mother Of Dragons." Can't help but wonder what the Night King thinks of that song.
